  • Neither File:Gavin Crawford.jpg nor File:Sheffield United Sqaud 1890-91.jpg give their sources or first publication dates, yet both claim they're in the public domain in the US because they were first published before 1 January 1923. How do we know when they were first published?
    • The images were circulated at the time and are included in the club archives and those of the local paper (Sheffield Star) but it's difficult to tell when they were first used or who they were taken by - the club records prior to 1900 don't exist any more thanks to Bramall Lane being damaged during WWII. The club did distribute copies of the team each season during this period and the Star would regularly publish them, but I don't have access to the papers from that period to discover an exact date. Similarly the player ones were often published in multiple places at the time (including cigarette cards etc) and were often distributed by the club but again it's difficult to tie them down to an exact date. Anyway - I've tried expanding the rationale on the images to include the UK copyright notice and more info.Bladeboy1889 (talk)

Midland Counties League

  • "... but the Blades persisted with their policy of utilising guest amateur players from the local area". This is the first time the nickname "Blades" has been used; should have been introduced in the lead.
  • "In the midst of congested fixture list The Blades finished the season 5th in the league". Are you sure that "The Blades" is correct, as opposed to "the Blades"? I'm certainly not, and the article is in any case inconsistent. And there's something wrong with that sentence anyway; is there a missing "a" before "fixture list"?
    • Good point - it should be 'the Blades' (as per generally accepted by WP:Footy) and I need to get out of the habit of writing 'The' for it. I've revised them all now ('The Wednesday' was the actual name of the club at that time.) Yes - typo in the sentence - added the 'a'. Bladeboy1889 (talk)
  • "... they registered a series of victories including an impressive 4–0 win over Kidderminster". In what sense was it "impressive"? Who did it impress?

FA Cup

  • This was to as far as The Blades would progress however ...". Is that just a typo, or is there something missing?
    • It was something that got left behind in an edit - removed the 'to'. Bladeboy1889 (talk)
