Incorrect numbers for Liberal Union

edit

The Free Liberals are included in the seats for Liberal Union, although it was a different faction. Other sources do not do that either, such as here and here (although we do it there for later elections...). And on another note, this page does not mention that it was not an election on one day. I checked an alternative source (Mackie & Rose's international almanac) and they split out the LU and Free Liberals, so I will update it later from the source. What was the date for the second round (+ source)? Cheers, Number 57 08:51, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
27 June 1901! Thanks for checking :) Dajasj (talk) 16:46, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dajasj: Thanks – I've updated the results. This also threw up an error in Nohlen & Stöver (they had the Free-thinking Democratic League receiving 23,398 votes rather than 28,398. It's a shame this source isn't complete (it only seems to have figures for 64 of the 100 constituencies?).
I've also updated the 1894, 1897 and 1905 articles. Although Mackie & Rose had the votes split for 1894, they didn't have a seat split. Any ideas where the 1894 figure of 28 seats in the League of Free Liberals article comes from? Cheers, Number 57 19:37, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It shows 89 elections, right? The other ten might be the unopposed, but then we're still missing one? Dajasj (talk) 20:01, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
O no, the other eleven are here Dajasj (talk) 20:02, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Aha, thanks! (I didn't realise the initial link was not the first page of results). Looks like Mackie & Rose must be wrong about the number of uncontested seats, so I will remove that.
Somewhat annoyingly, the sources don't quite tally; the source you link has a total of 389,014 valid votes (vs 389,020) and 609,493 registered voters (vs 609,634)... Frustrating as if they'd matched, we could have added the invalid votes from the online source.... Cheers, Number 57 20:10, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I also checked the CLEA figures dataset, and they have first and second round figures, including invalid. This comes to the totals below (the registered voters is only for contested constituencies and I have assumed the online source is correct about the Catholics winning 10 seats uncontested and the ARP 1). The one issue is that their seat tallies are different to the other sources... Number 57 20:48, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
