College Football Data Warehouse lists this team as having been selected as national champions by "Lawrence Baker" / "Dr. Lawrence H. Baker".

Lawrence Baker Selections

Some digging reveals that this is "Dr. L. H. Baker" of New York, a nom de plume, who was a collector of football statistical information, historian, and author.

His rankings were often mentioned in the same column as Williamson, Houlgate, and others who would eventually become "major selectors".

I'd like to find information about the source of his Randolph Field national championship selection.

I noticed that the Internet Archive has his book right after posting. And there it is!

Here is a citation for the 1944 Randolph Field Ramblers football team national championship selection on page 644:^[1]
