Infobox "Result"

edit

Please note that Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters states against "result" that "this parameter may use one of two standard terms: "X victory" or "Inconclusive"." The infobox has been amended to reflect this. Please read the template "result" guidance in full before amending or reverting. It would probably be best to discuss any proposed change here first to seek consensus. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:23, 27 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Infobox

edit

@Kautilya3 Hi, I have seen your edit recently on this page and appreciate that you rewrote the lead. For the infobox shouldn't it remain ? given that this is a military operation/rebellion like any other operation/rebellion.

I have no idea what it was, but it was certainly not a military conflict, which was the infobox you have used. Moreover, there isn't enough material here to warrant separate articles for the political aspects and military aspects. I think somebody expanded an original redirect and changed the title to a military conflict. The "Operation Datta Khel" is nothing more than a footnote to the whole episode. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 16:41, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Operation datta khel was the codename for the military operation and rebellion against the governer and takeover of the gilgit region. A rebellion is a Military conflict, if not so i dont know what to call it. Operation Datta Khel was clearly and explicitly stated in the book By the officer who directed it called it a military operation for the rebellion against the governer and the state of jammu and kashmir :-

Did you notice that his book is titled Gilgit Rebellion? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 18:51, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes the name of the Book is Giligit Rebellion. The Codename for the Rebellion by the Gilgit scouts and the Officer was Operation datta khel which is written in the book itself, i think this is the part where you misunderstood. It doesnt change the fact that this is a rebellion, A rebellion is a military conflict after all like any other rebellion?
"Rebellion is a violent uprising against one's government. A rebel is a person who engages in a rebellion. A rebel group is a consciously coordinated group that seeks to gain political control over an entire state or a portion of a state."
"the action or process of resisting authority, control, or convention."
Didn't this happen in this event Gilgit scouts taking control over gilgit area, Removal of the governers. The Officer then setup his own government ? Rahim231 (talk) 10:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia follows WP:RS. The title of the book written by the commander of the very rebellion is a good example to follow. If you want to change it, you need to file WP:RM. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 17:12, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Infobox as existed before was accurate so far.[1] It should be restored. Raymond3023 (talk) 09:28, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, I dont have any issue regarding the name which now has been renamed, it can stay that way with the lead and article mentioning it's Operation codename. Rahim231 (talk) 17:52, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Kautilya3. The book is titled as Gilgit rebellion and should not require an infobox. Amam Kum4r Go3l (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oh, it is accurate? That it is a military conflict? So, tell me how many people fought on each side? How many people got killed? How many njured? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 18:48, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have tagged a lot of problems with the infobox. I will wait for a week to see if they can be fixed. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 19:32, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have assesssed the tags you have put on i will slowly fix those. Rahim231 (talk) 18:26, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have read the Book it does state about the casualties and strength in its last chapter the Appendix I, Stating Killing of 150 Sikhs and disposing thier body and other events in the region, Rahim231 (talk) 18:27, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MrGreen1163 and Rahim231: Take a look at this source (page 9-10 ) this conflict started on August 1947, not November 1947 and infobox should be fixed to reflect that. Also, it says "All the Sikh troops were either killed or fled to the mountains to save their lives." This information is also supported by this source which said "its Sikhs were killed or captured". I will be studying this conflict further, i have realised after reading that it is not a small rebellion and some battles and attacks with the adittion of a coup also took place during this particular event. yes the sikh companies were either captured or completely eliminated.
