VP Nomination

Acc. to White (Making of the President 1960), no vote was taken for VP. The reason was that you had a bunch of delegates from the Upper Midwest screaming about his nomination, and Sam Rayburn (the convention chair) didn't want a divided vote. @-A-M-B-1996- Articles on primaries, as consensus has been, are limited to public contests. Most states pre-1972 did not hold such contests. Consensus has long been to outline public primaries in primary election articles.

Please avoid a triple revert and discuss before restoring. There is not consensus established to retain your edits merging the subject of primaries and conventions. This is not correct; please avoid strewing your discussion across several talk pages and relocate it to an appropriate venue. @Gelid Lagopus: Lyndon Johnson did not compete in the primaries. He famously waited until the Convention, after the primaries had concluded, to declare interest in the nomination. Your recent edit re-adding him actually misrepresents information and excludes the accurate context that he was not a candidate in the primary. I'd urge you to revert it and discuss.
