Formation
editThe formation pretty much shows England lining up in a 2-3-5 formation. Even allowing for the "CH" being the third back in a W-M, Jonathan Wilson in his excellent book "Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics" says "That [England being beaten 2-5 by France in Paris] persuaded the committee to follow Ramsey's wishes and switch to 4-2-4 and, although that bought a 2-1 home defeat to Scotland, he stuck with the formation for most of his early reign" He does have a bibliography but doesn't mention what source he has used that has led him to that conclusion. Whatever, it seems clear from the passag that England being beaten 5-2 by France was the only match Ramsey played with a W-M formation, and that he never played the Pyramid. Perhaps we could amend (or even remove) the positions. 195.10.102.252 (talk) 14:45, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
