Some people also attribute the Cubs late season demise to the fact that Leo "The Lip" Durocher left the team in August to get married. Hogwash. I've talked to players Jenkins, Santo and Banks, who each categorically deny that played any role in their finish that year. I knew the guys - I was a Spring Training batboy for the Cubs in Scottsdale, AZ, that year, and had the chance to speak with each of them a few times over the years. 24.56.179.27 (talk) 17:35, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

missing material

Under the "Bad luck" heading, there is something missing at the very beginning. The first sentence of the section reads, "Banks stated, however, that after an error by Young, Santo "went crazy. Young was so upset, he ran out ... I had never seen something so hurtful". What is this sentence referring to? Some kind of controversy? An example of bad luck that had happened?
