Fair use rationale for Image:MiltonShapp.gif

edit

Image:MiltonShapp.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The image Image:Cesar E. Chavez.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Results by state (table)

edit

What does this table represent? What is its source? Specifically, who won New Jersey? -- the table (Carter) contradicts the map (Brown). Both contradict Jerry_Brown: "Brown is often credited with winning the New Jersey and Rhode Island primaries, but in reality, uncommitted slates of delegates that Brown advocated in those states finished first."MrTetragon (talk) 19:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Could someone please add details for the April 6 New York primary? TFD (talk) 15:31, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Map colors

edit

Can we use better map colors? The current page uses colors that are very had to distinguish between them since they are variants of yellow, grey and purple. I'd actually like to change all the other primary maps to use better color schemes. Here is the current (left) my suggestion (right):

Redundant Section?

edit

Just curious, but what is the purpose of the "Primaries" section? The Democratic primaries are thoroughly covered in the earlier "primary race" section, and the only information contained in the Primaries section is about a single candidate, Henry Jackson, who wasn't even the Democratic nominee in 1976. IMO, this looks like a totally trivial and useless section that could easily be deleted to save space, especially given that it doesn't cover the primaries, the previous section does cover the primaries, and it only provides trivial information about a single, failed candidate. Just a thought. 71.49.182.226 (talk) 16:44, 12 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Huh?

edit

When I looked at this page earlier, Jackson 10 delegates. Now he has 242. Did he win more primaries while I wasn't looking or something? Clearly not, because it still says he won 3 contests. EA0926 (talk) 03:03, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Add Humphrey To The Infobox?

edit

Hubert Humphrey is in a rather odd position since the Draft Effort, while being just that, won nearly as many delegates as Franck Church, and actually carried Humphrey's home state of Minnesota. Even if it wasn't a formal campaign being waged by Humphrey himself, it would seem odd to exclude it. That said, since the spaces for Candidates 8 and 9 are left blank, it leaves a lot of white space on the third tier. I'd argue for adding Shapp and Harris into the box, the next two runner-ups in the delegate race, to balance things out, but I'd also understand if people did not want to do that.
