Hello,

firstly, please check out my User description to know more about me.

Secondly, I have a question to ask about the 1980 Tour (Depeche Mode) and 1981 Tour pages that User:Sztyepan created a few days ago. It's about the title of these tours: In comparison to the names of Depeche Mode's other tours, it now sounds as if these tours were officially named as such, when in fact they were not. I'm not sure if the name "tour" can even be used, since these concerts were not planned well in advance and were more of a series of happenstances, like "Hey do you guys wanna play in my club this weekend?" sort of thing. I think they should be called "Depeche Mode tour in 1980"/"Depeche Mode tour in 1981". For this reason, I wrote "The concerts were not planned well in advance, but opportunities to play at venues emerged as their popularity broadened." within the first paragraph.

Now I'm gonna give an explanation for most of the modifications that I just made on this page. Please note that I also simply removed grammatical errors. 1) As I wrote on https://www.depechemode-live.com/wiki/1980-03-xx_Woodlands_School,_Basildon,_Essex,_England,_UK, it is not clear if Depeche Mode truly performed at Woodlands in March. It could also have been in April or May. I chatted with Andy Fletcher's friend Steve Burton two days ago and he told me that it's possible that they even performed there more than once. You see, Woodlands school had a Friday-night disco there every week, and they'd invite any band to play. Since DM were rehearsing there each week, it is possible that they were invited at least once in these months. I wrote all these nuances down on "my" page, but since the "1980 Tour" page is much more of a summary, I cannot write all of those uncertainties down. So in the first paragraph, I just changed "March 1980" to "spring 1980". The only reason why I titled it "1980-03-xx" on "my" page is because that way it would appear first in the list of that category.

2) The previous version stated that Dave Gahan joined on stage on June 21st: this is not true. It is well written here that he joined on June 14th.

3) I've changed the sentence "this decision helped to make Speak & Spell in early 1981" Depeche Mode began working on the album in April 1981, but was not released till November 1981. But more importantly, Daniel Miller first helped to record "Photographic" with them, followed by "Dreaming Of Me", before they decided to work on an album.

3) The sentence "the last performance with Clarke at the lead vocals and with the usage of guitar and bass was at St. Nicholas School, Basildon in June 14." is superfluous since that is already explained in the band line-up.

4) While the precise date of their performance at Scamps in unknown, all evidence lies in the direction that it took place before June 14th. Dave did not perform along. So the line-up of the band was like that of their earliest performances. You can read all evidence here: https://www.depechemode-live.com/wiki/1980-06-xx_Scamps,_Southend-On-Sea,_Essex,_England,_UK. I've therefore also moved the line for this concert before the gig on June 14th in the gig list.

5) I've removed "1980-04-xx Rehearsal, Woodlands School, Basildon, Essex, England, UK" from the gig list since it was obviously just a rehearsal.

I've also edited the 1981 Tour page for similar reasons, please check out its Talk page.

I hope to hear from anyone who is interested in these two pages. :) Bye!
