Sources needed

edit

I noticed that whoever wrote the original race summaries seems to have used YouTube's "season review" videos as a source, mostly because the highlights and even some of the wording is the same.

I've actually been watching the full races recently, and noticed some mistakes. For instance, in the British GP, Alain Prost DID change his tyres when he went to the pits, but that was because the team didn't know what was wrong with the car and changed the tyres anyway, in the case Prost would return to the race. The fact is, if you watch the whole race, Prost was in the pits for over 3 minutes, as the mechanics tried to dismantle the car to reach the area where they could replace a damaged plug - and, in fact, there's a journalist near the pit crew who describes this to the viewer.

On the Austrian GP the same YouTube "season review" videos mention Prost having "suspension" problems, so I don't trust the source - hence the "citation needed" tag I added.

I don't have all the races of 1981, but I'll make corrections on those that I watch fully.

Agree that the syntax of this article in several places seems to match those used in some old F1 season review videos, although would have to check before jumping to say that the article contains any plagiarised content. It also generally needs a lot more sources, particularly where WP:BLP may become involved.2A02:C7F:DC08:9000:34:9C3D:7E6C:903 (talk) 12:29, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Since nobody bothered then to create a discussion here regarding current issues, I will. First of all, I don't get what problems are they causing, @Tvx1:? Please be specific. Second, I see that not only @Cherkash: and me who opposed such removal but also @The359:. Its only you who have an issue with it. You and an apparent block evader 2a02:a03f:265:ec00:d885:be34:86c6:5c1 who's edit pattern you follow.--Biografer (talk) 00:01, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Not it's not only me and discussion has already started. You can find it here. Next time look around a little bit before accusing anyone of bad faith.Tvx1 00:20, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
OK my bad. Found it and read it. Thanks.--Biografer (talk) 00:25, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's not your fault, Biografer. You were not incorrect to raise it here – but since the issue affects multiple seasons, it's more appropriate at this point to discuss it at the WP:F1 page. So please feel free to opine in the main discussion. Meanwhile, I'll repost your first comment from here in that discussion as well. cherkash (talk) 00:32, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
