- "The final was played at Lancaster Park, pictured in 1978" needs a full stop.
- Added. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "cricket team, played " no need for that comma.
- Removed. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "It marked the culmination..." this sentence uses "tournament" three times... repetitive.
- Replaced the middle one with "events", I don't think the two remaining uses is excessive? Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Probably worth noting in the lead that the two had played each other in the round robin and (somewhat appropriately) it was one of the ties you mention.
- Need to work out the wording on this one. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Could note the umpires in the lead.
- You didn't like this one?! The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:26, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Nah mate. Seriously, I ummed and ahhed about whether it was due or undue to include them in the lead, and then also couldn't quite work out where to put it. Along with the point above. I think I mentioned before that I'm rubbish at leads! Will give it a bit of thought. Harrias talk 18:45, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Interestingly, given your note below about the possible increase in spectators due to Bird, it could go there. But I'm happy to go without it. If you find something reliable that mentions that Bird's presence made a difference, I'd add the umps to the lead. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 21:07, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- No worries. You've already included them. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 21:10, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

- Might also be worth noting that the round robin actually saw each team play each other twice, not once per the usual round robin convention.
- Thrice in fact! (Added.) Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "first men's cricket world cup " I think I'd still capitalise World Cup, even in this usage.
- Capitalised Cricket World Cup. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "On the opening day of the tournament, Jill Kennare scored 98 runs, as they beat..." replace "they" with Australia as last team noted was England.
- Kennare overlinked (twice) and Hill overlinked.
- Removed duplicate links. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "Hosts New Zealand score 26 points, India got 16, " -> "Hosts New Zealand scored 26 points, India 16, "
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "in Christchurch, New Zealand on" comma after NZ.
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "and the famous English" remove "famous".
- I've removed it, but I might add it back in later with more information. There are some suggestions (though unfair, I think) that he drew more crowds than the cricket. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say good enough for GA. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:27, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

- "women's World Cup final.[7]" ...having umpired in the XXX men's final?
- Added. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Jan or Janette Brittin? And overlinked.
- Sorted. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Link "over".
- Roger. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "came together and steading their team's innings" -> "formed a solid partnership and steadied their team's innings"?
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "while Tredrea caught behind " was.
- Added. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "151 for 5" vs " 97 for five" consistency.
- Sorted. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "then took over and scored seven runs from one over " over/over (I know, different sense, but still reads awkwardly).
- Changed to "then assumed control". Maybe a tad awkward, or okay? Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- No, okay for GA. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:27, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

- Might need to add c & b to the key.
- Added. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- "most wickets; 23" just replace semi-colon with with.
- Changed. Harrias talk 17:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
A few trivial things, so on hold for now. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 16:43, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Umps in the lead? The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 18:27, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- @The Rambling Man: Okay, I've had a go at the lead, let me know what you think. Harrias talk 21:06, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- All good here. I'm promoting this. The Rambling Man (Staying alive since 2005!) 21:10, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
