- A translation for "Giro" would be nice; I'm assuming it means "tour" but confirmation in the article would be nice.
- "The Giro started off in Porto Azzurro on 23 May with a 85 km (52.8 mi) mass-start stage" - this implies the other stages were not mass-start stages. I find it somewhat strange wording.
- Done I added that it was a split stage and added a bit more about the legs. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- "Twenty teams entered the race, which was won by Spaniard Miguel Indurain." - what team was he representing?
- The second paragraph of the lead reads strangely, mainly because you go 10th stage, 1st stage, 10th stage. Recommend chronological order to make it flow better.
- The final lead paragraph is far too repetitive with the word "classification". Suggest changing it up.
- "Lampre-Polti finishing as the winners" - should be finished surely?
- Link for peloton?
- "Of riders that started" --> "Of the riders that started".
- "undulating" seems like a strange choice of words here, and I'm not entirely sure what you mean by it.
- [1]. It's a very common word used by analysts to describe a stage whose profile is constantly changing in elevation. It works trust me. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- "hilly stages" - is this official terminology? It just seems oddly informal.
- Any links for the summit stages listed in the second paragraph of the Route and Stages section?
- Yes? I have sources for all the summits. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant are there wikilinks available for the summits listed in the second paragraph, eg "Sella di Corno", "Passo delle Erbe", etc. NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH, wow I dunno what I was thinking when I read that. No there aren't, atleast for the English wikipedia. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 15:01, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Not to worry, I should have clearer when I wrote it initially. :) NiciVampireHeart 15:44, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- "navigated through the streets" - don't think "through" is needed here. "navigated the streets" reads better imo.
- "second stage was relatively flat route" - a relatively flat route.
- "that culminated with a sprint finish that" - repetitive.
- "the race transferred the riders to the city during the rest day the day before" - awkward. In addition, it wasn't the race that transferred the riders; the race necessitated the transfer.
- "gearing up for" - too informal.
- "successfully defended off" - should be fended off, not defended.
- "maglia rosa" - translate.
- "Bruno Leali managed to gain race lead by six seconds after overall leader Miguel Indurain finished over three minutes behind Leali." awkward; try something like: "Bruno Leali gained a six-second race lead by finishing more than three minutes in front of overall leader Miguel Indurain."
- "The stage saw many attacks" - you literally just stated that the sentence beforehand.
- "his second victory" --> "his second stage victory"
- "The next day's route was even harder as it contained two ascents of the Passo Pordoi and three over tough climbs." harder and tough climbs aren't overly encyclopaedic.
- "which was third stage victory" --> "which was his third stage victory"?
- Be careful with abbreviations versus spelling things out. In consecutive sentences you have "55 km (34 mi)", then "ten kilometer". Be consistent throughout. Also be consistent with conversions - all distances should be converted into miles.
- Done Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- No, still in the third paragraph in the Race overview: "ten kilometer". NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Done Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- "Ugrumov close to 40 seconds into Indurain's lead" does not make sense.
- "Lampre-Polti and ZG Mobili each won one stage apiece. Maurizio Fondriest of Lampre-Polti won the stage 1b individual time trial, while ZG Mobili rider Massimo Ghirotto won the mountainous stage 20." Why is this sentence completely separate in its own paragraph?
- The paragraph above details the stage wins for the teams that gained multiple stage victories while the tiny paragraph is about those with one victory. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- "Classification Leadership" section - should be "Classification leadership" I think.
- All paragraphs in the "Classification Leadership" section are very short/choppy. There's no real flow to the section.
- "Cima Coppi" translation needed.
- There's no real, official translation since Coppi is the name of deceased bike rider and Cima mean's top. I could put it down as Top Coppi, but no one has ever called it that. So I'm not going to put a translation when Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- That's fine. NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- "The Cima Coppi, the race's highest point of elevation" / "The Cima Coppi for the Giro was the Passo Pordoi." Is it the name of the stage or the name awarded to a particular rider or both?
- No the Cima Coppi is just the highest point of elevation that the race route contains and it is usually on a mountain pass so they organizers give the mountain more points towards the mountains classification than any other mountain since it is the highest point of the Giro. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- My mistake, I misread it initially. NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- Changes so far all look good. NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Just the consistency with "km" versus "kilometer" left to fix here. NiciVampireHeart 15:44, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- My bad about the kilometer thing. I think I pasted the done image in the wrong one when filling it out. I fixed it now. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 15:52, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- 2b Reliable sources
- What makes Bike Race Info an RS?
- What makes Cycling News an RS?.
- Well they both have been established as RS' by the other cycling editors who've been here longer. But Cycling News is one of the leading cycling news providers. Bike Race Info is just the online version of the owner's book - from what I can tell... so yeah they're legit. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- That's fine, I just wanted to check. NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- 3a Broad
- Any reason that ~50 cyclists did not finish? Seems like a pretty high attrition rate.
- No that's pretty standard for a Grand Tour that is not the granddaddy of them all - the Tour. Riders usually drop out more so in the Giro and the Vuelta since they're less prestigious then the Tour and especially in the Giro since its near the start of the cycling season. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- The Route and Stages section is quite low on prose. Obviously the table contains a lot of pertinent data, but is there anything else that could be covered here?
- Not really considering almost all the media available at that time was in print form and I can't obtain any of it really. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- There's no reaction section, impact section, etc. In addition, information on crowds/audience attendance, any televisation could be added if possible.
- There's not usually a reaction or aftermath section unless doping happened at the edition of the race, and I could not find evidence of that from what I read. And then also there's the fact that there is not much information on the internet available about this Giro since it was pre-internet. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 21:30, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm, okay. I can appreciate the difficulty, but still the article feels a little incomplete. Any information on the production maybe? How the stages were decided? Attendance of fans? Anything like that? NiciVampireHeart 12:48, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'll look for information about the route's release but that will be extremely difficult. How the stages were decided is pretty straightforward I feel. Its a widely attended event; it's the Tour but the Italian version but from what I've seen there are no estimates on how many people lined the streets and whatnot...
- Hmmm. Yes, see you if you can find anything. If not, I'll pass the article. I think it just meets the broad requirement, but more complete articles are always better. If you are planning on moving forward to FAC, note it definitely does not meet the comprehensive requirement. NiciVampireHeart 15:44, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- Yeah I've looked through the online newspapers and couldn't find anything of help. Disc Wheel (Malk + Montributions) 15:52, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Alrighty then. If you find anything in the future, be sure to add it. Until the, pass. :) NiciVampireHeart 17:49, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- Hold
- I am placing this article on hold for seven days to allow you to fix the problems listed. If the work is completed before then, I will pass the article before the seven days are up. If no attempts are made to correct the problems, I will fail the article in seven days. If you are not finished within the seven days, I have no problem in extending the hold period to allow you to finish, as long as I see work is being carried out on the article.
- To make it easier for me to see how much work has been done, please either strike each comment when the problem has been fixed or post a note underneath each item saying it is completed.
- Feel free request to clarification on anything; you can leave comments on my talk page or here, as I have this page watchlisted.
- Pass
- This article is now a GA. Congratulations, and thanks. NiciVampireHeart 17:49, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Route
editThe route for the 1993 Giro was unveiled on Saturday 14 November 1992, and had fewer time trials than the 1992 Giro, something that Chiappucci had requested. source (in Dutch). --EdgeNavidad (Talk · Contribs) 17:53, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
