Feel like it is somewhat hard to claim these were the first free elections in the country's history. Off the top of my head the 1869 elections and the 1927 elections were free. There were also a plethora of legislative elections between 1870 and the 1930s, some of which must have been free. There is a book chapter published by Line Bareiro and Lilian Soto in 2006 regarding this. Coeusin (talk) 20:28, 26 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
