Templates and mini-bios
editI'm not sure these are really useful. The templates differ from the standard that I've used in all the other election articles, and even in this article are only used for three of the wards.
In terms of the mini-bios, why do we only have information on a handful of the minor candidates? If we had a detailed discussion of the race in each ward, I could see a couple sentences given to the fringe candidates. But we don't have any content like that. At the moment most of the text on the page is on a few of the fringe candidates. This seems like a violation of WP:UNDUE. - SimonP (talk) 02:27, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- I created these templates some time ago, while working on biographical articles for Perruzza, Moscoe and Miller. I don't believe the design was my creation; my recollection is that I followed what was, at the time, the standard approach for creating municipal results tables.
- The reason we only have templates for these three wards is the same reason why we only have mini-bios for a handful of the minor candidates: both were created primarily as supplements to different articles. I would regard this more as "work in progress" than a violation of WP:UNDUE, although I'll admit that the article is structurally unbalanced at present ... and I agree that a detailed discussion of the race in each ward would be the best result.
- I should note that I've done things like this on other articles (see for instance Winnipeg municipal election, 2006).
- I wonder if there's any way to reach a solution that would incorporate the "best of both worlds"? CJCurrie (talk) 02:53, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
