Controversy settled and fallout both need references that work. Also, please don't put in line breaks or mix tense. Let the text wrap around and stick to the past tense. -TheMile 12:04, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scoring

edit

There's a definite asymmetry between the descriptions of the MSU and UM drives, with the former being much longer. Since I don't remember the game well enough nor do I have a videotape of it, I'll have to rely on AStudent or someone else to add some material to the Michigan drives to preserve a NPOV. Also, there's no mention of the Michigan drive after MSU's last field goal. I expect UM just went 3 and out, but it probably should be mentioned. -TheMile 16:09, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • There's asynmmetry there for a reason. I wanted to keep the scoring summary as brief as possible but include Michigan's crucial penalties that allowed for the Spartans to stay in the game. I tried to give a PPOV of both school. I actually have a video tape of the game and posted the scoring summary from it. AStudent 19:13, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • OK, that makes sense; the defining moments of the game certainly were when MSU had the ball. -TheMile 20:04, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
      • I graduated from UM and I'm a huge fan, but the major reason MSU won the game was because Michigan kept shooting itself in the foot. So for as much whining as the MI fans do about this game it was their team's fault they kept giving MSU chance after chance, a fact which needs to be reflected in the article. EVERY touchdown that MSU scored in that game was a direct result of a "second chance" by the Wolverines. 146.9.22.41 06:05, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

POV

edit

65.185.134.21, could you explain why you think your most recent edit has a neutral point of view? There certainly exist non-Michigan fans who come down on their side of the debate. -TheMile 22:47, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

"MSU Miracle"

edit

I've NEVER heard this game called the "MSU Miracle." If you can find a creditable source that calls it that please post it, if not it doesn't deserve to be in the article. 141.217.221.212 07:33, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have!

This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message here, on this talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material that violates someones copyright. If you are not sure if the link on this article should be removed, feel free to ask me on my talk page and I'll review it personally. Thanks. ---J.S (t|c) 06:49, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sportscenter Reference

edit

I removed "ESPN Sportscenter ran an actual clock against the MSU clock after the game and it came out that the "second" was really more than two seconds" per WP:V due to the lack of a citation.68.248.4.240 16:04, 6 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed move

edit

In my opinion, this article should be moved to 2001 Michigan State vs. Michigan football game. In most of the other articles on college football games, the winning team comes first. 173.26.237.244 (talk) 22:39, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The naming standard is, in fact, for the road team to come first. Jweiss11 (talk) 14:34, 7 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
