Raj Sharda

edit
Sharda is a 40-year old lawyer, who served both as a City Councillor in Oakville and Regional Councillor for the Region of Halton. He has practiced law in Brampton since 1997. He is currently a volunteer legal advisor to the Brampton Small Business Enterprise Centre and has previously served as President of the Halton Multicultural Council, as a member of the Allocations Cabinet for the Oakville United Way, and on the Board of Directors for the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce and the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly.

This was posted to the main article recently, by user:Election2006. I've removed it in my attempt to keep things proper, with no potential WP:AUTOs, and nothing that can't be cited. None of these statements can be cited, save one single reference to him in Oakville. Note that user:Eurasianjewel may be associated with candidate Larry Lee, and user:Bbsunshine is confirmed as John Sanderson's campaign manager. -- Zanimum 15:19, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Due to the abundance of WP:CITE and WP:AUTO violations, this page has been protected temporarily.

If a candidate has created a website, simply mention the web address. If you wish to change or add other information on this page, please leave us a message here, so that these facts can be added. Be sure to include references for each fact. -- Zanimum 14:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just wondering if lack of citations is the criteria for removing posts why are some profiles still up that have no citations at all. A couple of the incumbents from certain wards do not have any citation at all. Also there is not a single reference/citation for Mrs. Fennells profile. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by Klumsd (talkcontribs)
Any thing that isn't specifically cited, is cited to "Election campaign under way", The Brampton Guardian, Brampton: Metroland Newspapers, 4 October 2006. -- Zanimum 14:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Verification of Sharda's councillorship

edit

Kim Galione, the elections manager for the Town of Oakville has replied to me.

In response to your email Raj Sharda was appointed to Council in June 2000 to replace an incumbent that resigned. The position was for Ward 2 Town and Regional Council.
I have copied a section of the Minutes of Council appointing Rahneesh Sharda:
That Council appoint Rajneesh Sharda to complete the unexpired term of Councillor Kathy Graham ending November 30, 2000, and that the necessary by-law providing for this appointment as member of Council for Ward 2, and further appointing such person to sit as the successor member on the Council for the Regional Municipality of Halton, be approved.
CARRIED
Unanimously
(Councillor Liz Behrens declared a conflict of interest and did not vote.)

Endorsements

edit
He was endorsed for mayor by the Toronto Star on November 6 2006. [13]

Was this truly an endorsement, or did they just focus the article on him, due to the fact he seems by most accounts the only true challenger to Fennell? -- Zanimum 15:55, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, the editorial's called "Endorsements for Peel", and they chose to endorse him instead of Fennell, whereas in Caledon and Mississauga, they endorsed the incumbent mayors, so I'm going to have to say that yes, it was an endorsement.  OzLawyer / talk  17:37, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, didn't click through on the link. I was presuming that it was this article, which Sharda had alerted me to. -- Zanimum 18:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tom Argall announces 2010 candidacy

edit

Does this mean Brampton municipal election, 2010 should be created? -- Zanimum 18:14, 14 November 2006 (UTC) (regards to this link... http://www.myspace.com/argall4mayor)Reply

No, I don't think so. That's way too far in the future. Municipal elections generally aren't discussed in any real way until a few months before the election, so wait until 2010.  OzLawyer / talk  18:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
