Name?

edit

I called this article Taiwan Enterprise Football League 2007, but its real name in Chinese is 中華民國九十六年企業足球聯賽, or 企業聯賽 for short. What is a more suitable name for the article, or should we just leave it as it is? -- Asdf1248 06:32, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

How about removing "Taiwan" to make it become "Enterprise Football League"? -- scchiang 15:32, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah...I guess that'd work. -- Asdf1248 16:34, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Recent updates

edit

I updated the article according to what was on [1] , yet other sources seem to differ from it. However, I say that we keep it as this until we are sure that it is wrong, since the source I got it from was the table that is given to the coaches of the teams, so it should be reliable enough. -- Asdf1248 15:02, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Article for goalscorers

edit

The Fubon Enterprise Football League 2006 goalscorers page is proposed to be removed by Wiki administrator yesterday. Honestly speaking, it's really not important enough to have its own page. Therefore, I remove the {{main|Enterprise Football League 2007 goalscorers}} declaration. -- scchiang 03:38, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Teams

edit

According to the news, 國訓 is Kenting and 奧運男足 is Fubon this year. So,

  • 國訓: Fubon (2006) --> Kenting (2007)
  • 奧運: China Stell (2006) --> Fubon (2007)

Am I right? (What the hell is it?) -- scchiang 08:43, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I guess, yeah. But that just complicates things...grrrr...I say we leave it as is for now, and see what they do next year. Dunno... -- Asdf1248 11:55, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, y'know what? If the names are going to change each year, we might as well just call them NSTC football team and Taiwan Olympic football team. What about that? Then in each of their articles, have a list of the names they enter the league in. Offtopically...that would make Lu Kun-chi be in the Taiwan Olympic football team, not the NSTC football team. I'll go change that now. -- Asdf1248 12:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think it's better to use formal names such as NSTC instead of Fubon or China Steel in player pages. Besides, as to Taiwan Olympic football team, I suggest to directly use Chinese Taipei national football team. I saw they use direct link to each national team page in the Olympic Games page (e.g. Football at the 2004 Summer Olympics). Moreover, we could list the team squad for 2008 Olympic Games (if there's a name list) in the national team page. At least, use Chinese Taipei instead of Taiwan because Chinese Taipei is the formal name for the team. -- scchiang 15:25, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
But it isn't the Chinese Taipei national football team that plays in the league. It's the team that consists of the people that are playing in the Olympics. The Chinese Taipei national football team consists of them along with other people. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Asdf1248 (talkcontribs) 15:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC).Reply
I have the Taiwan Olympic football team up and running...I'll add the squad list soon. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Asdf1248 (talkcontribs) 04:35, 13 January 2007 (UTC).Reply
I suggest to use the name "Chinese Taipei national Olympic football team". I left the same comment in its talk page. -- scchiang 06:37, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Created the Taiwan National Sports Training Center football team topic. The Taiwan is there because other countries also have places called National Sports Training Center. Will add squad soon. -- Asdf1248 05:23, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nice job! -- scchiang 06:37, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Squad lists done for both the Olympic and NSTC teams. Will require some translations... Thanks! -- Asdf1248 08:21, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Got it.

U-23

edit

In addition, I found China PR and Iran name their Olympic team as "national under-23 football team" since they play not only in the Olympic Games but also Asian Games, which has the same age limit since 2002. I"m not going to change the name Chinese Taipei national Olympic football team now, though I think it may be changed in the future if the team will play in 2010 Asian Games. -- scchiang 08:55, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hmm...I think they're olympic team is called U-23 only because it is their U-23 team, or, in essence, their national "B" team, just like how Chinese Taipei's "B" team is...U-19, I believe? -- Asdf1248 09:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought the U-23 team is formed because Olympic Games has the age limit. In Football at the Summer Olympics, it says

The idea of youth teams found favour at both FIFA and the IOC, and since 1992 players must be under 23 years of age, with three over-23 players allowed per squad. The tournament is now effectively an "Under-23 World Cup", complementing FIFA's own tournaments at Under-20 and Under-17 levels. The new format allows teams from around the world to compete equally, and African and Asian countries have taken particular advantage of this, with Nigeria and Cameroon winning in 1996 and 2000 respectively.

For the same reason, there's a dedicated category in Wiki for European U-21 teams. -- scchiang 10:48, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh! Hmm...I dunno...the current name is what it is through a near-literal translation...Do you know if the Chinese and Iranian FAs refer to their Olympic teams as the U-23 team or the Olympic team? -- Asdf1248 14:30, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Chinese media usually call them "國奧隊" (China Olympic team). But in Wiki, the entry name is China national under-23 football team. You could check the page of Iran national under-23 football team as well. I think the name could be kept or changed later because our team only focus on 2008 Summer Olympics qualification at present. By the way, in CTFA press release, Cheng Yung-jen (鄭勇仁), Pan Kuao-kai (潘國凱), Tseng Tai-lin (曾台霖), or Lee Meng-chian (李盟乾) will be the 3 over-23 players. -- scchiang 15:06, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
