== Koizumi Candidacy?

As a total outsider and holding little understanding of the Japanese political system, please forgive my ignorance. But i was under the impression that Junichiro Koizumi had to step down as Leader of the LDP and Prime Minister as he had served as Leader for 5 years. As such, wouldnt that prevent him from being a candidate for replacing Abe? Or does the 5 year term re-set itself if a person has taken a break from being Leader? 58.7.61.127 10:56, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, not at all. I've never heard of that five-year rule, and I've got no idea where you got it from... —Nightstallion 18:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

So why did Junichiro Koizumi retire from the office of PM? I swear i remember reports at the time on the issue referring to there being some time limit to it, and i thought it was imposed by his Party rather than as part of a national constitution. Again, apologies. 58.7.61.127 07:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
EDIT: Quoted from Junichiro_Koizumi "Koizumi announced that he would step down from office in 2006, per LDP rules, and would not personally choose a successor as many LDP prime ministers have in the past." - so, wouldnt his re-candidacy be void as it would break these rules? 58.7.61.127 08:57, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've read that, but I haven't been able to find any source for it, and it's not cited, actually. —Nightstallion 09:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
After all Junichiro_Koizumi had no appearance.But Yasuo Fukuda is elder than Jun’ichiro , formerly Yasuo was called "Yasuo-san" with much worshiping.Yasuo is the eldest son of Takeo Fukuda ----The DQN,macbeth 07:32, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
