Ssr sources RT and Sputnik

edit

@Ssr: I would like to talk about this - diff.
RT (TV network) and Sputnik (news agency) are deprecated. See WP:RSP. And Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable sources per WP:RS. Do you have reliable sources to support the content in the edit? --Renat 13:38, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • I wrote this article in 2017. Everything was OK with it. Until you started editing wikipedia in 2020 and in 2021 you come to the article and begin to remove pieces from it instead of helping to expand the article. More over, you post at my talk page useless bulk tables in which you say to me "welcome to wikipedia". I do not need your welcomes, I edit Wikipedia since 2005. And I see no reason for removal of reliable content: this is article about Russia that mentions Russian press and sources Russian press from the words "Russian press". No single reason for removal. Nothing can be done in this case but to undo your senseless removals of valid content that existed since 2017. Are you Wikipedia:Gaming the system? --ssr (talk) 14:11, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • @Ssr: It does not matter when this article was written, when I started editing it, when you started editing Wikipedia, and so on. Please limit the discussion. The reason for the removal is that the removed content is based on deprecated sources. --Renat 14:29, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • I does not matter what you say does not matter. In Wikipedia, every edit every day of every year does matter. Article history is very important for what is written in it. If you don't understand this, this is a problem with your understanding of Wikipedia, and this should not be a problem for an article. --ssr (talk) 14:37, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
This should go strait to ANI. Edit-warring to restore propaganda sources which have been deprecated according to the community consensus is blocklable.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:56, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
This is not the first time you make personal attack on me, and all of your past personal attacks turned out to be senseless because your accusations turned to be thought-out by yourself without confirmation in reality. You are known as hostile towards Russian users as you personally told everyone many times. This is your new personal attack on me? Why do I see you again making attacks on me? --ssr (talk) 15:06, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:ssr is edit-warring to restore deprecated propaganda sources--Ymblanter (talk) 15:09, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Please read and understand WP:DEPS before re-adding RT or Sputnik to Wikipedia articles - David Gerard (talk) 16:50, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am here not going and was not going to insert RT or Sputnik in any article other than this. In this article, they are relevant. I inserted them in 2017 when you, and anyone, were not banning me to do so. I just try to maintain the article which I created. Please help me to elaborate it instead of what you are doing now. --ssr (talk) 17:04, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
WP:DEPS is neither policy nor guideline and the Sputnik article is labelled opinion so citing it with attribution might be okay, but the words "iconic" and "prophetic" are in headlines so WP:HEADLINES applies now, and it is a real guideline. I believe that Ssr should not re-insert. Peter Gulutzan (talk) 20:42, 22 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for your sensible opinion, this is what I'm approximately talking about. A reliable source in 2017 is still a reliable source in 2021, if it's a big news agency which covers millions of stories. Someone somewhere decided to criticize some stories—other millions of stories did not stop to be reliable in one moment. "Iconic" and "prophetic" here means that the 2007 "prophecies" were confirmed in subsequent years—the speech successfully predicted future, that's the key point of its significance and notability. This is what really matter here, not that someone somewhere decided to dislike RT at some moment. --ssr (talk) 04:06, 23 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Before you all decided to delete "Depreciated sources" because they were "unreliable", did you bother looking at archive.org. Deleting sources because of what ssr called "nationalist POV" (I am paraphrasing) is deeply troubling.Quiet2 (talk) 10:09, 1 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Significance and reception of speech

edit

In light of the invasion of Ukraine, this speech is rightly considered important. However, it is widely mischaracterized by Kurt Volker and other U.S. officials. A close reading of the speech and the Q&A section strongly suggests that the temperature of the speech was lower than reported and that Putin used the occasion to register the threat Russia perceived to its national security in the face of NATO’s eastward expansion. Putin delivered this speech one year before NATO’s 2008 Bucharest Summit, when NATO declared its invitation to Ukraine and Georgia to become new NATO member-states. 181.10.61.202 (talk) 16:54, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
