"Potential" candidates
editOnly actual candidates belong in candidates' lists. "Potential" or "declined" candidates can be inserted in the body of the article if there are citations to back up their inclusion such as speculation by local media. Due to lack of citations at this point, the speculation does not belong in the article. Steelbeard1 (talk) 11:05, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
- The "citation" for Ben Nevers as a potential candidate does not mention anything about him being called a potential candidate or his turning down a request to run for the congressional seat. Without a suitable citation that mentions Nevers as a potential or declined candidate, this passage risks being removed. Steelbeard1 (talk) 00:25, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

- The edit summary may be suitable for a citation which once existed to back up the speculation, but the link in question is to Nevers' biography from his state senate web site, which by its very nature would not give any hint of speculation of possible congressional ambitions. A good place to find if a dead link survives is archives.org Just type in the URL in question (or copy and paste) to find out if the archive web page still exists. If it does, then you use the archived link. Steelbeard1 (talk) 16:18, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Ben Nevers
editBecause the citation intended to back up the speculation about Ben Nevers being a possible congressional candidate does not mention anything about Nevers being a potential candidate, the passage has been deleted. Please do not reinsert this statement without a properly sourced citation. Steelbeard1 (talk) 12:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well... we can't %100 tell if the citationbacked it up or not.... but as you wrote on my message board... the link was to his Official State Web Site... it is very unlikely such a site would contain information regarding eltoral campaigns... speculated or otherwise.--Dr who1975 (talk) 00:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
