Trivia

edit

Record for the number of F1 race starts: 257 Barichello is curently on 254, if he competes in all 4 races of this in 2008, by competing in this race he will be the record holder. Fewest retirements

edit

Only 3 retirements in the race must be the fewest for quite a while, but since when? (ignoring the fiasco USA race the other year) Worth mentioning, I think. Mjroots (talk) 19:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Since two races ago, in fact, in Bahrain... ;) Bretonbanquet (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 22:26, May 11, 2008

Importance

edit

I've dropped the page to mid importance (see here), to conform with the Belgian one. Apterygial (talk) 10:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Things that occur to me as I copyedit this article...

edit
  • There was some uncertainty as to whether this was actually the race at which Barrichello would break Patrese's record, as both drivers had a couple of ambiguous starts/non-starts during their careers. Could be worth a mention.
  • Also, wasn't there some sort of handover between, or photoshoot of, Patrese and Barrichello?
  • Kovalainen's recovery from his crash at the previous race could be put in the background section.
  • "The second free practice was held in dry conditions, but the track was still damp from morning drizzle" - did this drizzle occur before, during or after the first session?
  • The section about the qualifying session timings could be reworded, as it effectively repeats all of the information twice.
  • Be careful when talking about "hard" and "soft" tyres, as these may not be the official designations. Use "prime" and "option" or "harder" and "softer" instead - preferably in context.
  • "it was enough to lift him into third place" - where was Hamilton's provisional grid place before his final run?
  • There are lots of consecutive sentences in the race section - almost all of them, in fact - which cite the same reference, which I think is overkill. Please can the redundant references be removed before I copyedit the race section?

The race section is a little short for my liking. At the moment it consists almost solely of the two Ferrari and McLaren drivers, the three retirements, and almost nothing else. There could, for example, be some information on how Heidfeld got up to fifth place at the end. I also recall that Kovalainen had some battles with some other drivers (Barrichello? Rosberg?) as he made his way through the field - these might be difficult to source but worth including. I haven't done anything to the final paragraph of the race report as I think it can be expanded.--Diniz(talk) 16:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I have expanded it a bit. Darth Newdar (talk) 16:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Aguri Suzuki's picture

edit

I do believe Super Aguri's exit from Formula One should get a mention, but I'm unsure if Aguri Suzuki's picture is the right way to represent it. I believe that it is better if it should be represented by either the Super Aguri logo, or one of the Super Aguri race cars, preferably one from 2008. Of course, this is a minor edit, so I do believe the article is strong without this edit, but it's a little strange to see that. TheBlueSkyClub (talk) 19:13, 26 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
