Misleading / wrongful exposition on the nomination procedure
editThe first sentence seems to imply that the Committee is bound by nominations from “others”, when in fact the Committee can itself nominate (even after the Februay 1st deadline). Objections to correcting this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.83.178 (talk) 22:30, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Our Nobel Peace Prize article doesn't confirm this. Do you have reliable sources for your believe?TMCk (talk) 23:06, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes the Nobel Peace Prize article confirms it, read just after the bullet points under “Nomination” and you will see the statement with a reference to http://nobelpeaceprize.org/en_GB/nomination_committee/who-can-nominate/ . Yet another source: http://nobelpeaceprize.org/en_GB/nomination_committee/selection-process/ , first two sentences. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.240.48.195 (talk) 21:03, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- Got it and changed it. Thanks.TMCk (talk) 21:54, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
When exactly was Barack Obama Nominated? He received the award only 12 days after he took office. He must have been nominated long before that. Long before he did anything. Long before he won the election. There should be some clarity about that since his nomination was clearly a public relations effort leading up to the election. If he was nominated, what for? He had done nothing to warrant it at that time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.89.229.157 (talk) 14:26, 29 July 2018

Recommend adding that even though Lundestad said it didn't have the desired effect, widespread media coverage saying they regretted giving the award to Obama or wanted to revoke it were incorrect and that Lundestad clarified against this. https://www.snopes.com/news/2014/09/14/prize-fight/ —Smithryanallen —Preceding undated comment added 13:24, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Statement with reference 62 is misleading since https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/09/reaction-obamas-nobel-prize-varies/ states mostly mixed reactions.

Remove Kensternation's edit, given that it offers personal views. The Nobel lecture section repeats parts of the opening paragraphs. Wadledo (talk) 00:34, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
I wish I could get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing. Must be that black privilege. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:FB1:530:65BA:67BD:E883:7475 (talk) 00:58, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

This article is factually incorrect. Obama increased the number of troops in Afghanistan considerably, stating the opposite is a down right lie. Tomkat321 (talk) 12:51, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
