Participating nations

edit

I wrote articles on half of the nations in which I included the competitors according to the entry list. I think that's important, but I won't have much time to work on in the next days. Someone else please take over. Cheers Per aspera ad Astra (talk) 07:40, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Records footnote.

edit

In the footnote that explains the abbreviations, like WR = World Record, PB = Personal best etc. in the chart of the results, it contains OR = Olympic Record. It doesn't need to contain it, because no Olympic Records can be set outside the Olympic Games. So the explanation of OR can be removed, but it is just a suggestion. I'm waiting for the replies... Yes, it does fall out of place here, but these codes are part of a general-use template ({{Sports record codes}}) that is also used in Olympic Games articles. One could change the template's code so that it omits the OR from non-Olympic pages, but that would just complicate a minor issue, imo. Parutakupiu (talk) 16:35, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I see. Thank you for your answer. Dajes13 (talk) 10:50, 17 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.121.42.154 (talk) Reply

Day 2 (16th)

edit

It currently says the defending world champion was Tyson Gay, but I'm pretty sure that Bolt was already holding the title (9.69 in August 2008; 9.72 in May 2008). --82.171.70.54 (talk) 12:28, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gay won the 100 m title at the World Championships in 2007. That's where the phrase defending world champion comes from.--Philipmj24 (talk) 07:51, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Medal Table

edit

Currently the row with the host nation (Germany) is marked with a purple background color. I suggest instead of "Host nation (Germany)" the purple background should be used for the "Highest Total" instead - which also happens to be Germany (for now). --82.171.70.54 (talk) 12:31, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Day by Day

edit

So the contest ended a few days ago then? 80.193.130.5 (talk) 09:45, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

4x100m Women's and Men's relay finals

edit

Jamaica just won the 4x100m Women's relay in 42.06sec, Bahamas 42.29sec, Germany 42.87sec.[1] And the Men just won as well in 37.31 running Usain and Asafa that means seven gold for the Jamaicans. Trinidad and Tobago took silver, Britain took bronze. --Xero (talk) 18:50, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wow, it's amazing to see such a small island of about 3 million people to be on par with the United States in the medal count. Are these results to good to be true? I guess we will find out.--Philipmj24 (talk) 23:51, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Berliner Olympiastadion night.jpg to appear as POTD soon

edit

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Berliner Olympiastadion night.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on May 27, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-05-27. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 22:28, 25 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Berlin's Olympiastadion, during the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, in which 1,984 participants from 201 nations competed. Most of the events were held inside the stadium, with the exceptions of marathon and racewalking. In the men's 100 metres race, Jamaican Usain Bolt shattered the world record, finishing in 9.58 seconds.Photo: Tobi 87
