editI am withdrawing the speedy delete tag. I did not realize Quidster only created this page two minutes ago. If he updates it to reflect UConn and not Charlotte, it will stay. If it stays with the Charlotte info for a while, I will re-CSD it. Smartyllama (talk) 15:06, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

editI disagree with the page move from 2011 Connecticut Huskies men's soccer team. The consensus for moving season pages indicated that we should start with the 2013–14 academic year, and all other sports followed that convention. There is no reason for soccer to be different. If we are going back further, we should establish that via consensus, rather than having the sports follow different conventions. Billcasey905 (talk) 11:39, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

It was proposed in this section that 2011 UConn Huskies men's soccer team be renamed and moved to 2011 Connecticut Huskies men's soccer team.

2011 UConn Huskies men's soccer team → 2011 Connecticut Huskies men's soccer team – To conform with consensus on WP:CommonName of the program established at Talk:UConn Huskies#Requested move 29 March 2019. This page was moved without discussion and in contravention to that consensus. Billcasey905 (talk) 23:48, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose as suggested, given that standard naming convention for a team's soccer season is to include 'season' in the title - see e.g. 2021 LA Galaxy season etc. In addition, the parent article is listed as just UConn Huskies men's soccer and any sub-articles need to match that (taking into account any changes in team name over time (like when Kansas City Wiz became Kansas City Wizards and then Sporting Kansas City, hence why we have 1996 Kansas City Wiz season and then 1997 Kansas City Wizards season etc.) although I am not aware of any here). As such instead I would support a move to 2011 UConn Huskies men's soccer season. GiantSnowman 11:27, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- Comment The standard for US College Sports has been to use "team" instead of "season." While I would have no objection to a change, I think such a change should be discussed among all college sports projects, such as WP:WikiProject College football, WP:WikiProject College Basketball, and WP:WikiProject College baseball, among others as it would impact literally tens of thousands of articles. The point at issue here is between the name "UConn" versus "Connecticut." Do you have any view on that? Billcasey905 (talk) 11:42, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support proposed change. I see no compelling reason at this time to switch "team" to "season" as this would require a wholesale change of college soccer articles and is better suited for another discussion. Jay eyem (talk) 23:25, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
