Full list of representatives
editDo we really need the entire list in here? Other Wikipedia articles on elections (French legislative election, 2007, United Kingdom general election, 2010, United States House of Representatives elections, 2010, etc) don't seem to include that. I think it's really unnecessary for the article. If you need to see the detailed results, just check the official results page. -Yk (talk) 19:23, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
- In my opinion let it stay. We don't need to restart another article just to list the results of the election. 175.139.196.14 (talk) 13:58, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
I agree with 175.139.196.14, but I think we should cut down all the unnecessary aspects such as majorities, opponents, and incumbents. Just follow the table format in Sarawak state election, 2006, clear and simple. The page that election commission used to display results is shown in Malay language and you know that not everybody understands Malay! A simpler table can give readers a good overview of all the elected representatives before they indulge into details. Besides, UK elections also keep List_of_United_Kingdom_MPs, for example this wikipage: List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 2010 after each and every election. For state assemblies, since its notability is not as high as the Malaysian general election, I think that just include the simplified list in this page will make things easier. Besides, the list is not very long. Cerevisae (talk) 16:02, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Originally the entire results list was created to prevent further incidents of editors editing the lists when an assembly rep passed away or a new by-election was called. This was prevalent after the General Elections in 2008, where editors would replace the names of elected reps in the general elections with elected reps in by-elections. We also had incidents of MPS jumping parties or declaring themselves independent which caused further editing. I only want to see the election results remain (including the majorities, opponents and incumbents), not every few months a by-election is called or a member jumps parties. For these reasons the list should stay, not because we have to follow what the French, UK or US election articles are doing.Lazybugger12 (talk) 03:56, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hey you know what? If it's useful information, it should stay. I'm going to try to improve the table because the list of opponents & votes is a little confusing. - Yk (talk) 02:42, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Here's what it tentatively looks like:
