Carlotta's Duration

edit

I can see that there is a lot of speculation with Carlotta's duration in which it was active. Please remember that this is the East Pacific, not Atlantic. All storm durations must be in the East Pacific time standard. So Carlotta's duration is between June 13 and June 16. STO12 (talk) 15:46, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, we go by UTC time in both basins. YE Pacific Hurricane 15:57, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

ATCF

edit

I can already tell this is going to be a major problem this season: updating Wikipedia immediately after the ATCF file has come out. Is there a note that could be put up every time somebody goes to edit that states not to change according to the ATCF update? TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 00:54, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Keep it hiden till the adv comes out. YE Pacific Hurricane 01:25, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
It's the same we do every year. We only add information per the latest advisory (or if there's an update). I'll add a page notice. Feel free to change/tweak. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:41, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Possible Vandalism?

edit

On the storm names list, there were two names that started with F: "Fabio" and "Frankie". Frankie was not used in the 2006 season; is this just vandalism or is it supposed to be there? 99.16.58.80 (talk) 04:18, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Good catch, it is vandalism. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:26, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Summary Map Corrections

edit

Tropical Storm Bud is depicted as a tropical depression as it goes northeastward and on the most current update, it is depicted as extratropical... pretty sure this is not reflecting the overall storm, help? Nikkywikky321 (talk) 22:59, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The map was last updated 3 days ago.Jason Rees (talk) 23:06, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
  Done, fixed. Titoxd(?!? - cool stuff) 07:34, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Okay, good, better now. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:02, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Bud is the earliest EPAC major hurricane on record

edit

According toJeff Master's recent Wunderblog article, Bud is the earliest EPAC major hurricane on record. Should that be mentioned in the article? 68.113.150.172 (talk) 21:41, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but be careful with your wording (make sure you mention it excludes CPAC AOR storms). YE Pacific Hurricane 21:45, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think we need a better source than that though. It is a blog. I don't think we usually cite JM. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:48, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, YE is right, Ekeka of 1992 is the earliest major ever, becoming one on February 2nd, 1992. NHC doesn't include CPac, but we do since CPac can rarely stand on it's own in non-El Nino years. Rye998 (talk) 21:58, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

JM is an expert on the subject so his blog is reliable. YE Pacific Hurricane 22:04, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
But do we usually cite JM? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:05, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
We have done it a few times, but even then it is not that mean we can start now. YE Pacific Hurricane 22:08, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, more esoteric question then. We have links to back up that Gary Padgett is reliable, since he is used and cited by the NHC. Does Jeff Masters have such recognition? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:11, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I won't disregard JM, but since we agreed to include CPac with EPac, it might be factually inccurate to cite it either way since Ekeka did form earlier. Rye998 (talk) 22:15, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, we agreed to do separate records for the AOR and the TCWC if that is what the source appears to be using. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:47, 2 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nonexistent Carlotta

edit

Caught possible vandalization, "Hurricane Carlotta" is on the timeline chart and nowhere else and depicted as a category 4 hurricane that lasted from June 3rd to June 12th... deleted it, though. Nikkywikky321 (talk) 02:04, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for catching the Vandalism and removing it, however you do not need to tell us about it. YE Pacific Hurricane 02:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

May Deletion

edit

Um... somebody deleted the whole May event timeline, can somebody fix it, please? Nikkywikky321 (talk) 03:23, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but it was deleted for a valid reason as May is no longer recent (it is considered policy to remove content older than 15 days). We have a separate article for Timeline of the 2012 Pacific hurricane season, where the same events are covered, just in a separate article. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:28, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if we were to keep the whole timeline on the page it would make the page too long. United States Man (talk) 03:31, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, we could cap the timeline if you want. In fact, I suggest that to be done if the season pulls a 2010. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:53, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Oh okay, gotcha, I was confused. Not anymore! Nikkywikky321 (talk) 05:03, 16 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
