Notability

edit

I had prodded this article because there are no reliable independent sources like news reports for it. The prod was removed with a reference to this, which I hadn't found (I looked for "cash spiel", the link uses "cashspiel"). However, this is an extremely passing mention. Has this tournament received any significant, indepth attention? Fram (talk) 07:27, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, curling events, especially those in the United States, don't usually get decent media coverage. I did a quick search, and some results turned up. The US Curling Association mentions the event here, and the host curling club mentions it here. Also, there's a pretty nice news article on the spiel here. Hope that helps! If you have any other concerns, please let me know. Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 20:47, 25 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Tour events get more coverage in Canada. It would be systematic biased to remove one because it gets less press due to being an American event. I know one of the lower tier events in Edmonton (with a lower payout) received decent coverage, but this one received very little. -- Earl Andrew - talk 03:31, 26 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
It's hardly "systematic bias" to not include events that get less coverage. Sports that are popular in one country and not so much in another, will often have articles for the events in the former but not for those in the latter. That's what WP:N is all about, after all. You could also claim that it is syetmatic bias to have an article on a curling event with a $25,000 purse, but not for $25,000 tennis tournaments (which are usually considered to be too insignificant to get an article here). The twincities article is a good find though. I'm still not toally convinced that this is a notable enough event to get a separate article, but such an artile certainly improves its chances.
