Talk:2012 United States House of Representatives elections in California

Some names we don't have & (my) continued redistricting confusion

edit

This article mentions some names we don't have (Jose Hernandez, Mike Barkley, Dennis Cardoza) but unhelpfully gives only vague descriptions of the districts and no numbers. I'm personally not able to match the descriptions to the actual districts so I'm just leaving it here in the hope that somebody can. – hysteria18 (talk) 14:23, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sudden realisation regarding California primaries

edit

Is it not the case that, since California now uses a top-two primary system, all references in this article to party nominations and primaries are quite misleading? This literally only just occured to me. I just thought I'd check that I'm not misinterpreting the law before going ahead and making the necessary changes. – hysteria18 (talk) 23:06, 20 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oh, that is a great realization on your part Hysteria! I wish I or someone else had thought of it earlier, especially since California had a special election in the 36th district last month which used the top-two system for the first time. Anyhow, we'll all have to be more careful about entering candidate references from now on, because it's just a "nonpartisan blanket primary" (as Wikipedia's article calls it) rather than every party having its own exclusive primary, if I understood correctly. Merge discussion-Jay Chen

edit

As the subject Jay Chen does not meet criteria 1 of WP:POLITICIAN, and coverage does not appear to meet WP:GNG, I am proposing that the article be merged, redirected, and summarized in the section regarding District 39. There is no need to WP:SALT the subject name, as the subject maybe notable later, so perhaps it is WP:TOOSOON for a stand alone article at this time.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 18:44, 13 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand how it makes sense for this article, essentially a list of election results, to contain a biography of one of the candidates. If Jay Chen isn't notable, his article should simply be deleted. There's no need to merge the content here. DoctorKubla (talk) 17:50, 18 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
