Talk:2013 ICC Champions Trophy

Media coverage

edit

I've tidied up the table, but any more citations for broadcasters would be helpful. Under USA, I shifted ESPN3 to 'Internet' as it appears to be an internet-only channel, though I can't find a source to confirm they're definitely broadcasting the Champions Trophy anyway. I'm guessing Sky Sports are the main TV broadcaster for the UK, but I haven't yet found anything to confirm this. Ecce Thump (talk) 17:58, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rules and Regulations

edit

The grammar of the rules and regulations sections needs to be improved. Errors include "that which" instead of "that" or "which" and a number of instances where the subject and verb do no match. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.65.206.240 (talk) 16:28, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rules for Semi-Final wash-outs

edit

On Sky Sports yesterday, I'm sure I heard one of the commentators say that if a semi-final was washed out, the group winner would advance to the final. Can anyone confirm this? I can't find a source online, although my searching may be flawed... Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:28, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

From Playing conditions, which is linked from the main ICC Champions Trophy site (page 22 of pdf):

That doesn't quite answer Lugnuts' question, which was about a washout. Declaring teams joint winners won't help proceedings much in a tournament like this either. HiLo48 (talk) 08:55, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's the ICC document that I believe applies. I read "or if the match is a no result, then the Group winners shall progress to the Final." as answering the question - but I guess you could interpret it differently. I agree, joint winners is a crap out, but that's what it says. Begoontalk 09:10, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I didn't see anything about rescheduling matches, and the mere fact that there is a "tie-breaker" or "sharing" like this mooted implies to me that there is no such provision - but I didn't read the whole thing yet. Begoontalk 09:25, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ah, here you go. You're right - it's clear as mud:

But that's from a section about dangerous pitches that starts:

and finally, we have:

Like I say, clear as mud. I guess it comes down to "are there any reserve days?", and are they used for washouts?" and I can't see the answer to that. If I had to bet, I'd bet on the Sky guy being right, but it's by no means clear cut from all that... Begoontalk 09:29, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wow! Thanks for the replies. Haha, you'd think it would be straight forward. Speaking of reserve days, odd they've got the final on a Sunday. Would be better to have it on the Saturday to use the Sunday, if needed. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 09:59, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
One more, from the ticketing info: https://www.eticketing.co.uk/icc-champions-trophy-2013/staticpages/faqs.aspx#reserve_day

Are there any reserve days?

There is not a reserve day planned for the Final of the Tournament at this stage.

Keeping their options open?

Have faith in the Great British Summer. With this, Wimbledon, Glastonbury and The Ashes, what could go wrong... Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 11:29, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Lord Gower on Sky Sports has just said that if no play happens today, there is no spare day and both sides share the trophy. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 10:03, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
