Notable events

edit

This section is synthesis and arbitrary. What makes them notable? There is nothing other than WP editorial judgement that decides this, hence its synthesis.(Lihaas (talk) 11:00, 25 January 2014 (UTC)).Reply

Last years page was brought to my attention and we had summaries in each section, so the "notable events" is not "integral to these kind of grand slams". As such I moved it to be consisetnet there.(Lihaas (talk) 10:41, 26 January 2014 (UTC)).Reply
I agree with Lihaas - this section is not the proper way to handle things. Instead, each day's action should be summarized mentioned any notable happenings under the date header. --ThaddeusB (talk) 00:30, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I also agree, the section (and similar sections in other similar articles) should be purged and any relevant information moved to prose in the relevant day's play. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:51, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please note, it wasn't just to "delete" the section, it was to incorporate the referenced parts into the relevant sections. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:02, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Just deleting the material is lazy, it needs to be handled properly. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:16, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
if that's the case, then just do it. I tried and im wrong, so yall do as you wish Boldly...better than complaining and expecting other to do it, then complain againLihaas (talk) 23:40, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Simply deleting the text does not help in any way - I could have easily done that myself in less time than it takes to write a comment. It is not my responsibility to clean up the article any more than it is yours, but that doesn't mean I can't point out its flaws. That said, I may give it a shot later tonight if I have time. --ThaddeusB (talk) 01:18, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Overuse of flag icons

edit

The use of flag icons in this article is approaching the absurd. The flags in the tables are fine, but they should be removed from the body text, IMO. The overuse of these icons puts undue emphasis on the counties rather than the athletes. Kaldari (talk) 22:54, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

I would concur. They work great in tables, and usually a single player article is fine with one flag in the infobox... but this article has a bit many for my taste. Fyunck(click) (talk) 23:02, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I agree, remove the flags apart from those in the infobox. The rest really overwhelm and damage the article's readability. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:52, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
its std fmt. this should be at WP Tennis to removeLihaas (talk) 07:53, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
So bring it up there then. I'm commenting on this specific article, if others are similarly crap, they should be adjusted too. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:00, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I dont want to see it changed.
Well i then oppose strongly here in the interests of consistency.Lihaas (talk) 15:05, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
