Accusations of ESPN racism

edit

In this edit, IdahoRedemption (talk · contribs) has claimed that ESPN was accused of racism in the 2013 Little League World Series for mistakenly identifying one of the player's favorite singers as Wandai Wrection (One Direction). While the incident did inspire a spate of blog entries, among mainstream blogs, only one of them (this one published by DailyDot.com) used the word racism (and in that case, it was tossed of as "perhaps a little casual racism"). I believe the inclusion of this fact in the article gives undue weight to the incident. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:41, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have remove the comment. Discuss first here before restoring. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:00, 8 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Scores

edit

The scores section shows only the vacated scores. The originals should be included as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.150.2.60 (talk) 17:25, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm inclined to agree, but I'm not sure what the best way to show that would be. Would it be too unsightly to asterisk each of the forfeited games and place the original score at the bottom as a footnote? Or maybe restore the original scores but asterisk them with a single footnote indicating they're official forfeits? 199.20.117.22 (talk) 17:53, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mistake

edit

There is a mistake in this section:

Mid-Atlantic pitcher Mo'ne Davis became a media sensation throughout the tournament, becoming the first female to participate in the Little League World Series since 2004. At 13 years old, she is among the youngest athletes to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and is the first ever Little Leaguer.[3]

It claims Davis is the first female LLWS player since 2004. This is not the case. There was another girl on team Canada just this year. Back in 2009, there were two more girls that played on Canada and Germany's teams. Maybe she is the first U.S. girl since 2004, or first female pitcher since 2004?

I have fixed it. It should have said she was the first American girl since 2004. Tampabay721 (talk) 17:34, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
