"Electric touring car"

edit

@Donnie Park: I tagged the sentence "After losing to Naoto Matsukura in electric touring car when he won the last two of three heats needed to secure a title the previous year, XRAY's Bruno Coelho of Portugal won the 4WD class." as needing clarification, not a source citation (though thanks for adding the additional source). It's unclear what "electric touring car" refers to; readers can't click through to see what the 2014 IFMAR ISTC World Championship is, as that's still a redlink, but it shouldn't be necessary for readers to click through to another article to understand the sentence in this one.

Would rephrasing the sentence to something like "After losing to Naoto Matsukura in another vehicle class at the 2014 IFMAR World Championship when he won the last two of three heats needed to secure a title the previous year, XRAY's Bruno Coelho of Portugal won the 4WD class." be accurate? Or have I misunderstood what you're trying to say? —GrammarFascist contribstalk 17:01, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

@GrammarFascist: Sorry for the late reply, I wouldn't mind that but overall, four of those events run under three different dates and wanted to avoid them appearing to look like they take place at the same time. Donnie Park (talk) 17:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem, Donnie Park, WP:TIND. I'm still not sure I understand how best to refer to the other event so as not to confuse readers. Would "in the championships for a different vehicle class in 2014" be closer? —GrammarFascist contribstalk 17:27, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
It would be better. Donnie Park (talk) 17:31, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Okay, let me make sure I understand before I edit the sentence in the article.
  • The 2014 IFMAR ISTC World Championship was the championships for a different vehicle class than the Off-Road Championship tournament which this article is about
  • In the 2014 IFMAR ISTC World Championship (which we'll refer to in this article using the underlined text above) both Bruno Coelho and Naoto Matsukura participated
  • In the 2014 IFMAR ISTC World Championship, Matsukura won the last two of three heats needed to secure a title, defeating Coelho
  • In the 2015 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship, both Coelho and Matsukura participated
  • In the 2015 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship, Coelho defeated Matsukura and won a title
Please point out anything I have misunderstood, so that I do not inadvertently introduce errors into the article. Thanks, GrammarFascist contribstalk 12:53, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
GrammarFascist Sorry for the late reply, its just I've been distracted lately, I am happy with it. Donnie Park (talk) 01:29, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
