18-team table?

edit

Is there any point in having the full 18-team table? The only time teams from different groups need to be compared is in the seeding of the two sets of 8 finalists. The full table will end up with highlit rows all over the place.

South Africa

edit

How come South Africa gets 6 teams while New Zealand and Australia get 5 teams?--Perfectamundo (talk) 17:04, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

After the 2015, Super Rugby will be expanded from 15 teams to 18 teams. The three additional teams will be one from Argentina, one from Japan and a sixth one from South Africa. They asked for a 6th one is the answer to your question, I guess. South Africa had 6 franchises for a while, the Kings were formed in 2009 and played for one season in 2013, with the Lions dropping out. So, the South African Rugby Union were really pushing for a 6th S.A. franchise to be included during this expansion. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 17:22, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Put back the full table.

edit

Can whoever removed the full 18 team table please put it back, you can find a full table at http://www.superxv.com/overall-super-rugby-standings/ Also can someone put back the 18-team round by round because it is hard to tell who topped each round overall.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Highflier9 (talkcontribs) 00:57, 20 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi there @HighFlier9:, this was actually removed after several people on the talk page of the standings template said that it shouldn't be there. The superxv.com link you sent clearly says at the top that it's not "official" and merely a guide; could you please comment on the talk page of the standings template, with a rationale why it should be there? Too many templates

edit

This article is in the hidden error tracking Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded because it has over 2900 templates which have more than 2 megabytes of expanded size. Searching for "Template:" in the displayed article (not the wikitext) shows templates which are not expanded because of the problem. There is only one at the moment, but each new template added will cause later ones to fail. Has this been raised before? Any suggestions for how to fix? Hi @Johnuniq:, thanks for pointing that out, it hasn't actually been raised previously. I did a bit of a cleanup to remove some templates, it should now be fine. I'll keep an eye on this going forward. Thanks, TheMightyPeanut (talk) 07:16, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Attendances

edit

Looking through all the major domestic league wiki entries for 2016 or 2015/16 seasons, they all appear to have very insightful and detailed records on attendances. This includes the Pro 12, The Aviva Premiership and the Top 14. I was wondering why Super Rugby doesn't have anything as concise as they have. It appears the information is relatively more difficult to get ahold of. Is there any reason why attendance records cannot be part of this page at all? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TragicVision1 (talkcontribs) 18:17, 11 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @TragicVision1:, no, there's absolutely no reason why attendance records can't be part of this page ... as long as the information comes from a reliable source. Most of the individual matches have verified attendance figures though. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 18:46, 11 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply, @TheMightyPeanut:. Would this be a simple case of collating these attendance figures together and formulating a table? As you mentioned, there doesn't appear to be a full record of the entire competition and individual matches are missing. I have looked into certain articles in other domestic competitions and there appears to be difference of opinion whether to add playoff attendances and number of games played in addition to regular season games. This would arguably take more work than simply quoting three sources and actually having to do the maths themselves.
Hi @TragicVision1:, if you collate the attendance figures yourself, that could be considered original research, and could lead to unverifiable and possibly incorrect data, especially when the individual attendance figures are retrieved from multiple sources. I've previously added attendance figures into this article, which shows attendances for both the regular season and title play-off matches, but those attendances were actually published in an article from a reliable source. Since the data for the Super Rugby season isn't entirely complete, I would suggest omitting it unless a reliable source can be found. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 22:29, 11 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
