At the bottom of the article: "The unusually abrupt decline in cases by April 2020 was attributed to the effects of widespread social distancing and lockdowns aimed at COVID-19", and the reference posted for this statement is a Nature.com article dwelling more into the matter. The COVID-19 lockdowns that took place around April seem to have cut the influenza season in the northern hemisphere by about 6 weeks. See also the WHO's comments to Nature: "“Public-health measures such as movement restrictions, social distancing and increased personal hygiene likely had an effect on decreasing influenza and other respiratory virus transmission". —Atcovi(Talk - Contribs)03:35, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
