Ducks 2nd first round pick
editThe Ducks have indicated via their draft website they will be claiming the 29th pick in this years draft. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.31.61.245 (talk) 11:23, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
- I saw that a while ago, but there is also no harm in waiting for the complete list that the league publishes. As some team writers don't always get everything right, once the league publishes the official draft order it's open season as to who can add it to the article first. - I wanted to add this link [2] just recently published by the league. In the link it states that the pick in question has not yet been converted. As a result the article will remain as it is currently written until there is further confirmation from the league as to what Anaheim has decided to do. Deadman137 (talk) 22:16, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
Flames second-round pick
editSo despite what some other places are reporting the Flames second-round pick in this draft can only go to Islanders if the Flames miss the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs. The original article making this claim goes back to the Mike Smith trade a week earlier (the trade with two citations on the condition in the unresolved section if anyone is looking for it) where Pierre LeBrun is quoted as saying that the Coyotes would receive a second-round pick if the Flames make the playoffs next year (2018). Where this falls off the rails, relates to a series of tweets from Bob McKenzie where he states that the condition relates to the Flames making the playoffs in 2019 instead of 2018.
Initial reports of the Smith deal had the conditional pick being available in 2018 or 2019, due to the Brian Elliott trade, most assumed that it related to only the third-round pick. Obviously it related to both rounds as the Flames were able to trade their second-round pick in 2018 in the Hamonic deal. Now that Calgary only has their 2019 second-round pick available to fulfill the Coyotes trade what I added to the article is the only explanation that makes any sense.
Hopefully now you can understand why I took more than a day to post the conditional part of the Hamonic trade. Deadman137 (talk) 20:11, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Blues First Round Pick
editIt may be conditional in that it might be top 10 protected. This is the only source I've found mentioning it being conditional and top 10 protected.[3] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.216.89 (talk) 05:04, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
- Good catch, I finally found a corroborating article to back your claim up. Deadman137 (talk) 18:23, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Duchene Trade
editApparently the 2019 1st is lottery protected which means it is conditional. - Already fixed. Deadman137 (talk) 19:13, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Order of remaining playoff teams
editHere is this year's order of remaining playoff teams.
Conference finalists will be given the final four selections in this year's draft. As teams get eliminated from the playoffs please only add teams that have their selection spot determined.
The following is a list in reverse order of league finish for this year's playoff teams:
- Colorado Avalanche
- Vegas Golden Knights
- Dallas Stars
- Columbus Blue Jackets
- St. Louis Blues
- Carolina Hurricanes
- Winnipeg Jets
- Pittsburgh Penguins
- Toronto Maple Leafs
- San Jose Sharks
- New York Islanders
- Boston Bruins
- Nashville Predators
- Washington Capitals
- Calgary Flames
- Tampa Bay Lightning
Ex: If the Avalanche or Lightning were to be eliminated in the first two rounds they would pick 16th and 27th respectively. If the Avalanche were to make the conference finals and Vegas was eliminated in the opening two rounds then the Golden Knights would pick 16th. If the Lightning were to make the conference finals and the Flames lost in either of the first two rounds then Calgary would select 27th. Deadman137 (talk) 07:42, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
Conditional picks
editI tried to make a correction because the explanation of the condition was incomplete. Those explanations are poor. These were "either/or" conditions and providing only one of the potential outcomes does not describe the condition of a trade. It says it was converted to a 2nd round pick, converted from what? The same thing in 2020, companion trade.Kevinskogg (talk) 22:06, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- As I stated on my talk page only the condition that resolves the transaction is kept. Deadman137 (talk) 23:15, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:NHL Entry Draft which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 01:05, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
