Naming conventions...
editI am not sure I agree with the "final tournament" appended to this article. As with other tournaments (for example Africa Women Cup of Nations), what we normally do is to add "qualification" to the preliminary and regional qualifiers, then allow the final tournament to keep its name. Not even sure CAF uses "2021 CAF Women's Champions League final tournament". Just want to be sure if this is the norm as this is a first for me. Thoughts?? @Fooliard:, @Amara94:, @Faycal.09:, @Ben5218:, @Spiderone:, @SuperJew: HandsomeBoy (talk) 15:15, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- @HandsomeBoy: Exactly what I was thinking! Why don't you rather use this link, scroll to the end of that page, find and click on the "Oldest" link and locate the first user/contributor to that page, which is at the far bottom of your PC/mobile viewing. That user's name is in between the time and date of that edit and size of info he/she just put there. Click on the "talk" link next to that user's name and then "New section" on the page that appears. Ask that user the same question you just asked here! If no response is given within a week beginning from the moment I post this info to you, I will take it down and restore what you requested. The reason why nothing is done about it for now is because we're just waiting for any contributor (or that contributor) to re-align the info to its/their proper page(s). I repeat — if nothing is done about it within a week, consider your request DONE by then!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fooliard (talk) 15:48, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Thank you for your messages, I created this page because for me it is a step like during the qualifications where each region was created. Or as in every round created in other club competitions. For example the page 2021–22 UEFA Women's Champions League knockout phase represents the final round of the 2021–22 UEFA Women's Champions League. For me it is the same thing, however I find the page that I created more important because it is not a knockout stage but a major final tournament organized by a country which is Egypt after a series of qualifications. Best regards. --Fayçal.09 (talk) 09:39, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
For me, I think the current name needs to change, but at the same time I'm not sure if we have many options. This is the main and final stage of the tournament, but at the same time, CAF never referred to this stage as the "final tournament". 2021 CAF Women's Champions League group stage and 2021 CAF Women's Champions League knockout stage might also sound ambiguous for some viewers, since the qualifying rounds featured group and knockout stages in some regions, but it will be similar to CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup seasons' articles for pre-2017 editions where the group stage featured two groups only. Another downside of this suggestion is that these pages would be small and short with barely any additional content to add to. We could also merge the content of this article to the main page, similar to 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and UEFA Euro 2020 for example, since the tournament is held in a selected country and not played as a normal home-and-away tournament; or we could just leave it the way it is for now. - I'd move all qualifying content to 2021 CAF Women's Champions League qualifying or qualification and then have 2021 CAF Women's Champions League mainly about the final 8 tournament (jsut a small section about qualification). Maybe the qualifying article isn't even needed, because the regional qualifiers have articles too. -Koppapa (talk) 13:51, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

- Support normal way of naming football tournament articles with a qualifying and final tournament. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:49, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose there is one edition with qualifying rounds and final round. --Fayçal.09 (talk) 20:53, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- Yes and we usually add qualifying to the qualifying round, rather than adding final tournament to the main competition. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:06, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
- Support normal way of naming football tournament--Amara94 (talk)13:53, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
