More problematic editing
Less than an hour after full protection ended, an IP editor reverted back the line about Brian Rose. Shortly after, a new account called "DrPeterG" edited out unflattering information about the UKIP candidate who styles himself Dr Peter Gammons. I have reverted both these and put a COI template on the new user's Talk page. While I was writing this Talk page note, the IP editor re-reverted (so 6 minutes later). I imagine this is going to continue until the election in May.
We will all have to continue to keep our eyes on this article. I think semi-protection from now until after the election may be required. I think full protection as we recently had would not be practical given this is an election and it will be accruing new news! @Anachronist and AmandaNP: as administrators involved in the recent protection for comment. And what do others think? Bondegezou (talk) 11:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- As there are multiple IP addresses involved, all of whom have failed to communicate, I have semi-protected the article for 2 weeks. ~Anachronist (talk) 13:11, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Bondegezou (talk) 16:11, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- I don't expect to be monitoring this article, but if disruption resumes after two weeks, let me know and I can extend the protection to end after the election. In the meantime, anonymous and unconfirmed registered editors may propose well-sourced changes on this talk page. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:25, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks @Anachronist:, you've been very helpful and constructive. This often happens in the run up to UK elections and the small band of brothers (and sisters) who are the remaining core of the UK politics project carry on fighting the fires where we can. Anonymous and IP editors flock to Wikipedia as they see it as free publicity and an easy to edit blog for their candidature. It is our duty to keep them in line. It's not easy. But we soldier on. doktorb wordsdeeds 22:26, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Anachronist:, protection has lapsed and the disruptive edits have been made six times in the last two days with no sign of slowing or abating... Ralbegen (talk) 22:26, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- Re-protected until 3 June. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:09, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

New article: Brian Rose
An article for Brian Rose (podcaster) has been created, who is intending to stand in the mayoral election. I thought editors here might be interested and help to improve it. Bondegezou (talk) 10:40, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- He's not notable enough for an article, is he? doktorb wordsdeeds 10:46, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- I've stuck a "notable" tag on the article. There's some RS coverage of his podcast (but maybe that warrants an article on the podcast, not him). He clearly fails WP:NPOL. There's a puff piece from Living Vegan. I'm in 2 minds, but this is really a discussion for that article's Talk page. Bondegezou (talk) 10:49, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- I've now removed the tag I added. I found a fair few RS pieces, mainly on the Rose/Icke interview, but including I think enough content specifically about Rose. But feel free to dispute this. Bondegezou (talk) 11:35, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- There is now an AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brian Rose (podcaster) for anyone interested. Bondegezou (talk) 11:16, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
