Hey, thanks for the review. I think I have covered everything except the lead as I'm unsure what else to add. It covers the results and the subsequent political outcome so I don't think anything else is really relevant. Happy to listen to any suggestions though.

@Stevie fae Scotland: Some of the background information probably belongs in the lead; one sentence about the composition into the election, mentioning "Aberdeen Labour", maybe a link to STV somewhere. I've added sources from the different elections to the Seats changing hands table similar to the Retiring councillors section. Also added an archive link from the council's website from April 2022 which has the Labour group listed under Aberdeen Labour.

Btw re-commas – we were genuinely not taught that at school so I was quite surprised at that (especially when it's not different here vs US). Stevie fae Scotland (talk) 09:05, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

Lead

The lead is a bit small. Consider expanding it to provide a slightly more detailed summary of the article's contents.

• Labour regained some of the ground it had lost at the previous election to overtake the Conservatives into second place with 11 councillors (up two) while the Conservatives lost three seats to return eight councillors. Add a comma after (up two) to aid reading. See also: User:Sammi Brie/Commas in sentences (CinS)

Background

• The SNP gained four seats to hold 19, four shy of an overall majority, while Labour lost eight seats which left them with nine as they fell from the largest party to third place. The Conservatives gained eight seats to record their best result in Aberdeen since 1980 with 11 seats while the Liberal Democrats lost one seat to hold four.
  • Add a comma after "lost eight seats" and then after "11 seats"
• The Labour party Is there a reason it is Labour party and not Labour Party? Is it because it is known as Scottish Labour nationally?
• I would write STV out as "single transferable vote (STV)" on first reference.
• Conservative councillor Alan Donnelly was suspended from the party and subsequently resigned after he was convicted of sexual assault and Liberal Democrat councillor Jennifer Stewart resigned from the party to become an independent. Comma after "assault" (CinS)
• Labour, which had put forward 20 candidates in 2017, stood 15 candidates all of whom used the "Aberdeen Labour" description. Comma after "15 candidates"
• The 13 candidates fielded by the Liberal Democrats was one less than in 2017. "were" one less
• The number of independent candidates fell from 13 to six while two Libertarian candidates contested the election Comma after "six"

• The "Seats changing hands" section has no inline citations.

Ward results

• Wikilink Cllr — that is an unfamiliar abbreviation to, say, US readers.

Aftermath

• On 18 May, a Partnership Why is "Partnership" capitalized here?

Spot checks

• 4: Article in Holyrood Magazine. Scottish Labour has suspended all nine of its councillors on Aberdeen City Council after they defied the party leadership to form a coalition with the Tories. Any coalition agreements entered into by Labour councillors have to be approved by the party executive. This reference does not support the group label "Aberdeen Labour", though. Add a ref for that. Y
• 20: Results declaration for Bridge of Don Ward. It lists percentages for first preference vote which check out by math and the stage at which any councillors were elected. This is correct on the table above. Y
• 37: Vote transfer for Hazlehead etc. Data checks out and is reproduced in the article. Y
• 41: Vote transfer for Torry/Ferryhill. Same as above. Y
• 50: News article on the Dyce/Bucksburn/Danestone by-election result. Details check out. Y

No Earwig issues. "the party to become an independent" is just not a creative phrase, nor is "Liberal Democrat councillor Jennifer Stewart".
