Cleaning up page

Would love to change the "Green (UK)" to -> "Green", and change the "Coventry Citizens Party (UK)" to -> "Coventry Citizens Party", and change "ADL" to -> "Alliance for Democracy and Freedom", but I'm not incredibly skilled with the party name w/ colours template and it seems to push them back? Hello - thanks for all your work on the article. There's an election box template that makes the whole process a lot easier. You can look at 2022 Barnet London Borough Council election, for example: you just need the article name for each party and the candidate's name, filled into blocks of code. They're easier to edit and require less duplication of effort than designing custom-made wikitables. Let me know if that makes sense? I can do an example for a ward in this page if that would help. Do you think you could provide me a link to the template documentation page you're referring to? I've been using the Template:Party name with colour. The documentation is here: Template:Election box! I've filled in Bablake as an example. A couple of other quick notes: there is no UK Green Party, in England it's the Green Party of England and Wales; and it's usually best to use people's main calling names rather than listing all the middle names in the election documentation. Almost always that's their first and last names: Stephen Robert George Gray goes by Stephen Gray, for example. Ralbegen (talk) 17:41, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks! As for the middle names situation, I might take a look at tweaking my formatting, but the reason for inclusion is that the election forms, and official council website, and several websites for tracking elections, do include the candidate's middle names. Additionally, Coventry is a very multicultural city, and differing cultures can have differing levels of importance and traditions surrounding certain names. @Ralbegen: Hey is there a way to force override / manually input the name and colour for a party in the template? I understand why ADF and TUSC might be reduced to acronyms, but I feel it reduces the clarity of the article, and I know what colour the Coventry Citizen's party should have (a light 'sky' blue)? 5.68.219.54 (talk) 19:00, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

I've edited Bablake to show how to put a minor party's colour in. The template uses the established short names, which are set for each party. It's best to leave them as they are—if a reader wants to find out more about a party, they can just click on the name. Separately, I think you might be using visual editing? I think you might find it a lot easier to use the in Edit Source mode, when it comes to the election box templates, once you get used to them. Source editing them also means they are much more readable to other editors! Have a look at the way I've left Bablake in source mode now—that way it's a lot easier to add votes etc in when it comes to the election. Ralbegen (talk) 19:11, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

To do the template I'm actually doing source editing them. For me personally it's just a little easier and quicker to have each candidate being a singular line as it's less scrolling.
