Leaders seats

edit

Following on from a discussion with @Ralbegen, there seems to be a bit of disagreement on whether to include the Leaders seat.

I personally feel it is relevant, and is something people looking at the article would be keen to see at a quick glance, and is a key fact about the election.

This seems to be standard practice across London. Taking a look at 2010 Lambeth London Borough Council election, 2010 Camden London Borough Council election, 2010 Southwark London Borough Council election as well as all Croydon articles since 1978 Croydon London Borough Council election, all show the Leaders seat.

I personally feel it's a valuable piece of information, and don't particularly see a difference in relevance between this at a local and national level. Trimfrim20 (talk) 14:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think what you need to ask yourself is whether it's one of the key things about the election. Often when editors put together an infobox they include every field that they can, which only obscures the key details. To be honest, I'm not in favour of including leaders' seats at the national level either! A crisp and clear infobox is the best infobox, erring on the side of not including information per WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE. If one of the biggest stories following the election is that Hamida Ali lost her seat, say, then that can be included in prose in the lead and backed up by longer discussion summarising reliable sources in the body of the article.
I'm afraid I don't consider most council election articles to be exemplary encyclopedia entries (including some I've contributed in the past!): they are often full of contextless statistics unsupported by prose despite the fact that they will have received enough local and national coverage to write a more substantial and substantive article about. The statistics are important and worth including, but we should try to take a prose-first approach and build the rest of the article up around that! Ralbegen (talk) 15:57, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello Ralbegen, I added an image of the TTIP candidate considering the fact she is contesting in this election term. Further, the party name she represents is Taking the Initiative Party. Can you please allow me to add both? Thanks in advance. Ricalston (talk) 20:06, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

What is the source for the results please?

edit

According to this tweet counting is still ongoing for several wards, including some for which results have been input into this article (e.g. the New Addington wards). Can someone clarify, or should I just nuke all results so far just in case???? --A bit iffy (talk) 16:34, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ignore, I didn't see the refs!--A bit iffy (talk) 16:44, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Results infobox

edit

I can see the results infobox has been changed. The Conservative number has been changed from 33 plus Mayor to 32. I have reverted this back.

The plus Mayor is a crucial part of this. The Mayor is a voting member of Full Council, and therefore should be included in the context of the Council result to my mind.

As for 33 vs 32 - I believe the most accurate way to reflect this is to consider it 33 on this page - a by-election was then called immediately after this election. Trimfrim20 (talk) 09:26, 10 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mayoral result by ward

edit

There's no reference for the section that has the Mayoral election result by ward. Personally I haven't been able to find anything that breaks down the result at ward level so am curious where this comes from. Conrad AML Cake8325 (talk) 19:27, 23 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's an Excel Spreadsheet that was available on request from Croydon Council Electoral Services. Trimfrim20 (talk) 16:13, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
