IPO Primary Section

edit

If it's alright, I'm gonna add an 'Independent Primary' section to the article, for the Independent Party of Oregon. State Sen. Betsy Johnson was mentioned in a Willamette Week piece to possibly run for the party's nomination. Willamette Week could also have been referencing her running as an actual independent, non-affiliated candidate, but due to her connections with the IPO (See her with the party secretary here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zn0JvN8aKeM&t=3776s) I think it's reasonable to assume she would run on the Independent Party's platform. (Willamette Week article: https://www.wweek.com/news/state/2021/06/02/for-just-the-second-time-in-25-years-the-oregon-governors-mansion-is-up-for-grabs-here-are-four-ways-the-race-could-go/)

Update: Tim Harrold was added to the section, but he is not running under the IPO, so I will rename the section to 'Non-Affiliated and Other' for the time being to include both Sen. Johnson and Mr. Harrold, and any other minor party candidate until we can break it down further to those running for the Independent Party, Pacific Green, or Libertarian nomination. Update on Betsy Johnson: she has now been confirmed as an unaffiliated candidate for governor. --Mmeschter (talk) 02:01, 15 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

There is another issue with the Independent Party in this article I would like to raise. In the General election table, the Democrat and Republican candidates are labeled 'TBD', yet the Independent Party has Kevin Levy as the presumptive nominee. I do not think it is correct to have him as the assumed candidate as, similar to the major parties, the Independent Party holds its own primaries for governor. It should also be noted that the IPO has cross-nominated candidates for governor previously (Kitzhaper in 2010, Richardson in 2014). Therefore I will remove the Independent box for the time being until they select a candidate. Feel free to respond if anyone has any corrections or objections. --Mmeschter (talk) 17:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
