Talk:2023 Azerbaijani offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh

Ocampo

edit

Why do we have the opinion of Ocampo mentioned in the lead? It is not a place for quoting marginal individual opinions. Also, this person's reputation is controversial, and he has a tendency to call every armed conflict a genocide [1]. This opinion is not generally accepted by most other sources, so I don't think it should be mentioned in the lead. Grandmaster 08:20, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

1. Ocampo's opinion is not marginal, he was elected Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in 2003 for nine whole years, he is a legal expert in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. 2. "This opinion is not generally accepted by most other sources" Source? 3. "he has a tendency to call every armed conflict a genocide" that's your opinion, and its wrong, btw, you cite an article about his opinion on the Israel-Palestine conflict to back it up, and yet most if not all genocide experts call the current Israeli aggression on Gaza and the occupied territories a genocide, Ocampo being one of them. scapegoat (talk) 01:17, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Third Nagorno-Karabakh War?

edit

On September 19, 2023, there was an attempt to rename this article as the "Third Nagorno-Karabakh War". It was rejected based on the fact that the clashes happened very recently, and there was no evidence it would become a full-scale invasion. Now that Artsakh is clearly in Azerbaijani hands, I think it is safe to call it the Third Nagorno-Karabakh War, as it has the significance of being a clear end to the conflict. Are there reliable sources that use this term? signed, Rosguill talk 22:35, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I could find more if I wished, but these are both from established news sources. Game2Winter (talk) 03:07, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
The second source does not say "Third Nagorno-Karabakh War", it says "a third Nagorno-Karabakh war", which is not the same. The sources are also rather obscure, and the first one is an advocacy group, not a news publication. signed, Rosguill talk 03:06, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Second Nagorno-Karabakh War was not referred to as the "second Nagorno-Karabakh War" in most news sources either. From a Google search, nearly all of the sources that have that explicit name were written after the Wikipedia page was created, and most seemed to have taken that name directly from the Wikipedia page. That is in fact an argument for retitling that article, and I believe I argued as such in all relevant discussions for that page. signed, Rosguill talk 23:14, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Western propaganda

edit

Articles of references 76 and 77 do not mention Russian Federation. How can it be claimed that "Azerbaijan and Russia ignored calls from various countries and international organizations to restore freedom of movement to Armenia through the corridor."?
