Glickenhaus car in the WEC 2023 calendar teaser

edit

Hey! We could see the Glickenhaus Hypercar in de calendar teaser. That must be legit, wright? So, why don't we put them in de list of Hypercars! 213.126.201.146 (talk) 12:01, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

"At Le Mans, the world's most prestigious manufacturers, Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, Toyota, Cadillac and Glickenhaus, will compete for the superb Centennial Trophy, created in association with the Monnaie de Paris and recently unveiled at the famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California." This is right from the WEC website! 213.126.201.146 (talk) 12:04, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

the problem is, aside from Glickenhaus being on the calendar teaser and being mentioned by the FIA, we don't actually know in what way they'll be represented. We don't know if there are customer teams or not, and haven't had any confirmation if they're running one car themselves again. So basically, we don't know enough about their effort to add them to the hypercar entries.
Of course once we get official confirmation of teams they can be added. Robin tales fighter (talk) 18:14, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Any source for Jota running #38 in Hypercar next year?

Isotta Fraschini Hypercar

edit

A new Hypercar has been announced! Here are some details:

Constructor: Isotta Fraschini - Michelotto Car name: Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 Engine: 3.0 L Turbo V6 Hybrid First race: 6h Spa 2023

I tried adding this in the page but a bot accused me of vandalism. Sorry I'm new to wiki editing. Gallonico06 (talk) 20:46, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

"Type" column

edit

I propose adding a Type column in the Hypercars table, given that two different types of racecar will compete in the same class. However these edits were removed without comment. -- BouncyCactus (talk) 14:28, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

It serves no real purpose for the championship as they are all in the same class. In 2022 alone we had LMH, LMH Hybrid, and grandfathered LMP1 cars all competing, but there was no distinction made for that. The359 (Talk) 17:34, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Further discussion is required. BTW, the hybrid distinction was actually made and that other detail might very well be useful in the page as well. It's possible to refer to WP:IAPD -- BouncyCactus (talk) 18:53, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Because hybrid power was originally included with the engine configuration as it was a performance statistic, but was separated so that the engine column covers just the ICE. As hybrid no longer boosts performance in the LMH era, it could be removed, especially since all but one car is hybrid-powered. What more discussion is there? People have disagreed with its inclusion as it does not improve the article. The359 (Talk) 19:49, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
It definitely should be added. It's even talked about in the article: "It is the first season in which LMDh (Le Mans Daytona h) entries will be allowed to compete in the Hypercar category for championship points alongside LMH (Le Mans Hypercar) entries, after being permitted on a race-by-race basis in 2022.[1]" but it isn't defined in the entries.
There are two distinct rulesets to which cars can be built, but it isn't defined to which ruleset each car was built. LeMansFanNo1 (talk) 11:23, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agree, there is need to mark them in any way. AndyVolykhov (talk) 12:49, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
They have no bearing on the championship and would simply be information for the sake of adding information. They all conform to the Hypercar class rules. Last season we had LMH and LMP1 cars coexisting in the Hypercar class, and we've had a past of IMSA running DPs alongside LMP2s and even a Deltawing that conformed to no rules all running under the Prototype class. Even now, the technical regulations of hybrid LMH and non-hybrid LMH are different, but the distinction is not made because of the different rulesets, but because it is part of the powertrain listed in the articld. But in the end all these various technical regulations mixed together ran in the same class for their time, meaning we need no distinction because this is the Hypercar championship, not an LMH or LMDh championship. The information on which technical ruleset a car was built to exists on each car's own article. The359 (Talk) 13:07, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
This information has more value than hybrid or non-hybrid engine (which is listed in all tables for hypercar class). AndyVolykhov (talk) 20:53, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
You have yet to explain what value this adds to the article regarding the championship. What engine is in each car is more valuable to the knowledge of the season than what ruleset each car was built to. Again, having information does not mean that it is necessary to add it. The359 (Talk) 03:26, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
So what value does engine type add? AndyVolykhov (talk) 11:48, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Engine is less relevant than than the ruleset. Power is limited by the bop so it doesn't matter what engine makes required power. But i don't think that engine should be removed, its a nice information to have but i also thing that ruleset should be added. LeMansFanNo1 (talk) 18:50, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Manufacturers in GT?

edit

What is the reason that in the beginning of the article is written that there will be manufacturers' championship in GTE Am, since there never was any, only in GT Pro? AndyVolykhov (talk) 11:12, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

the manufacterers' championship was always across both GTE pro and am, with the best two cars from each manufacterer in each class scoring points. Robin tales fighter (talk) 10:26, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
No. There were no Astons in GT manufacturers' championship in 2021-2022 seasons where they were only in Am, not Pro. AndyVolykhov (talk) 17:19, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
that's because the manufacterer (Aston Martin themselves) didn't sign up to the manufacterers' championship. Robin tales fighter (talk) 08:56, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Anyway, there's NO any GT manufacturers' championship in 2023: [1] (page 75). AndyVolykhov (talk) 09:16, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

GTE Entries

edit

Graham Goodwin has written an article telling about the - possible - GTE Am entries. Since I am new I don't dare to edit anything in this Wikipedia yet. Would you guys be willing to do that? It's about this article: https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/12/14/what-should-the-2023-fia-wec-grid-look-like-part-three-gte-am.html Jordy Zenden (talk) 11:24, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Some drivers not appearing in official standings documents

edit

Even though Franck Mailleux scored championship points at the Spa 6H, he does not appear in the post-Le Mans standings document since he drove the No. 709 Glickenhaus, which is not a full-season entry. (See here: http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/Results/12_2023/04_LE%20MANS/474_FIA%20WEC/Provisional%20Championships/2023_Hypercar_World_Endurance_Drivers_Championship_After_LeMans.pdf)

This is the same for Ryan Hardwick and Zacharie Robichon in GTE Am. Hardwick and Robichon drove the No. 16 Proton Competition (not a full-season entry) for Le Mans and do not appear in the GTE Am standings document, even though they scored points in Portimão and Spa. (See here: http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/Results/12_2023/04_LE%20MANS/474_FIA%20WEC/Provisional%20Championships/2023_FIA_Endurance_Trophy_LMGTE_Am_Drivers_After_LeMans.pdf)

Do we include those drivers in the standings or do we follow the official documents? NASCARFan2004 (talk) 12:50, 12 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

List the result but color it as blue for a non-scoring result. The359 (Talk) 14:08, 12 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Missing the second Team Cadillac car from hypercars

edit

Guess it must have dropped out of a worm-hole to come fourth at LeMans...? 59.102.11.1 (talk) 11:38, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Aviram, how about you fix it instead of reverting this discussion? 59.102.11.1 (talk) 11:46, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, looking into it, the #3 cadillac seems to be missing from the Entries table, anywhere else you see it missing? Reshadp (talk) 12:06, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
The #3 Cadillac is not an entrant in the FIA World Endurance Championship. They did not file nor were granted a full-season entry. Although they participated in a WEC event, they are not considered part of the series championships and are ignored in all allocation of points. As such, for the sake of brevity, only WEC entrants are listed under the Entries heading. The359 (Talk) 15:13, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Possibly it could be added with a note reflecting that...? This fact isn't mentioned on the LeMans race dedicated page, or the Season Report section talking about the other races on this page (it also competed at Spa). Indeed the Entries section on the LeMans race page just redirects back to this list after a short discussion without mentioning that car at all. 59.102.11.1 (talk) 21:28, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Why does it need any special mention? Several cars in all categories entered Le Mans that are not part of the WEC. The result of the car at Le Mans is listed exactly where it should be, in the results. The359 (Talk) 03:12, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
