2021 World Baseball Classic → 2023 World Baseball Classic – Per CBA of the 2021–22 Major League Baseball lockout, the WBC will come back in 2023. Source Sqldf03 (talk) 21:53, 6 April 2022 (UTC)— Relisting. Spekkios (talk) 22:04, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 16:04, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Sqldf03: Then shouldn’t a new page be created for the year the WBC returns instead of moving the 2021 page to a future page? -2pou (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- @2pou: I've tried, but it gives the following error: "The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask for the page to be moved." Initially I did copy and paste but that was a bad practice I learned (you can see my talk page).
- I suppose you can redirect the 2023 World Baseball Classic into its own page than World Baseball Classic, but moving 2021 would suffice because of the information it has. Sqldf03 (talk) 15:15, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Support The 2021 tournament was delayed to 2023. As I see it, the two options are (1) move this page to 2023, or (2) keep this page to discuss the delay and have another page for 2023. I think (1) is the correct choice considering the limited content is relevant for 2023 and there's little to say about 2021. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:31, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Support move. This is more of a delay than a cancellation. O.N.R. (talk) 23:38, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- Support: I believe this would still count as Fifth edition of the games, as opposed to Sixth. As such, it's a delay, not cancellation, so the page should be moved. But if later on WBSC or MLB says it would be the "sixth" edition in 2023, then it should be moved back.Kazuha1029 (talk) 00:14, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
clarification needed in Quarterfinals section
editWhat makes a team the "Quarterfinals 1 winner" vs. the "Quarterfinals 1 runner-up" if there are only two games in the Quarterfinals round and the two winners don't play each other? Some type of tiebreaker scheme? — 2603:7081:4A06:3200:7D92:9C47:34BB:B079 (talk) 16:40, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
question about first round pool B section
editso I noticed that pool B section says the schedule for pool B is below. But this is the only place where it says that the schedule is below. Do you think that that should be added to all the sections? Or should that be removed from pool B as none others have it? Egreen42 (talk) 20:00, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see a reason for it. Removed. Skipple ☎ 22:44, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
Knockout stage
editI'm struggling to find any official sources that refer to the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Championship as the knockout stage. MLB.com seems to refer to these games are the Second Round (quaterfinals), and Championship Round (semifinals & championship). The individual games are referred to as Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Championship. Not sure where this came from, but I don't think this is called the knockout stage in any official capacity. Skipple ☎ 23:53, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
- Both are valid, on MLB International broadcast (that was also often broadcast on FOX) they often mentioned it as Knockout Stages
- For wiki, I think we should keep knockout stages because it is easier comprehension for newbies in the sport Meganinja202 (talk) 09:43, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
GB vs Colombia Standings
editOn both wikipages put Colombia behind GB but both standing sources (the MLB and the WBC Japanese site) list Team GB behind Colombia, making team GB go to qualifiers
Can someone fix it? I guess it is another of those new tiebreakers that they had put for this edition
