pagination of table
editCan anyone tell me how to actually see the full chart of 2023 term opinions? I found absolutely no way to see the full width of the chart so that you can see the left name of the case and also all the way to the right column with Jackson's entries. It cuts off in Gorsuch or at most with Kavanaugh. You cannot read across the entire width of the chart. I've never seen this formatting (blocking full view of a chart) before in any chart in wiki for the past 20+ years ... CarolynETaylor (talk) 20:58, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think it has to do with the size of your screen. On my laptop and desktop it shows normally with all columns. Jdavi333 (talk) 05:54, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- I would ideal if the table displayed well in conditions that most users will view it in. This is probably impossible, though, since most people view WP on small screens.[1] But some work could be done to reduce the width of the table. Templates such as Template:Static row numbers or Template:Sort under would give a few pixels. A shorter date format would also help. And if we really wanted the table content to be visible to all users, Template:Abbr could be used to represent each judge's vote column with their initials. - This mockup shows the extreme end of what could be done:
Case name and citation | Argued | Decided | JR | CT | SA | SS | EK | JR | BK | AB | KJ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. 137 | 11 Feb 1803 | 24 Feb 1803 | 1 | 2 |

- One more note: it would be better if the table assumed the reader was completely colorblind. See MOS:COLOR. Inside a green cell, "M" could be used for a majority opinion vote. Also "C" for concurrence and "D" for dissent. Other possibilities exist for other types of votes... Wizmut (talk) 20:13, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
