Antisemitism
editWhat is the source for this claim: "Several antisemitic incidents took place during the protests." in the lede? Antisemitic according to whom? Makeandtoss (talk) 12:22, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Based on the Allegations of antisemitism section it appears to be according to The Independent,[1] as well as Columbia’s President,[2] The NYT reference states
"Columbia officials have previously said there have been several antisemitic incidents on campus"
, but this isn't doesn't appear to be related to the protests, so will update sources based on content wording. CommunityNotesContributor (talk) 13:55, 1 June 2024 (UTC)- Important to note that Columbia officials have a conflict of interest and their statements should not be said in WP voice; also I am sure there's at least on RS that gave their own assessment whether this was true or misleading. 2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupation → 2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupations – There have been three encampments established, as well as the occupation of Hamilton Hall, making four separate occupations in total. Should this article title be changed from occupation to occupations (ie plural) ? CommunityNotesContributor (talk) 14:37, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- I mean this doesn't seem controversial so no need for requested move, I would support.. Makeandtoss (talk) 15:38, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Support seems reasonable FortunateSons (talk) 17:17, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
If a third encampment has been established, should not this still be considered to be going on?

Columbia Antisemitism Panel
editI've checked this article for information on the recent placement of three administrators on leave over antisemitic text messages during an antisemitism panel (New York Times). Given that placing deans on leave for conduct is rather serious, I think this and other articles relevant to Columbia University's responses to the encampments on their campus. ⸻PKMNLives — 🖛 Talk 05:06, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- The incident is unrelated to the 2024 Columbia University pro-Palestinian campus occupations. It may be appropriate for other wiki articles. Burrobert (talk) 12:47, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- maybe part of some aftermath section? User:Sawerchessread (talk) 16:13, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Afaict, the discussion at which these incidents occurred was not triggered by the campus occupations. There appears to be no connection. Burrobert (talk) 12:43, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
NYPD date incorrect
editAccording to the article introduction,
The first encampment was dismantled when university president Minouche Shafik authorized the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to enter the campus on April 17 and conduct mass arrests.
The NYPD entrance and arrests took place on April 18, not April 17. This is indeed confirmed later in the article:
On April 17,[...] The next day, the Shafik-authorized New York City Police Department Strategic Response Group entered the encampment to arrest protesters as Columbia University employees cleared the tents.
