Sponsors

Should main livery sponsors (other than the 10 F1 teams) be listed in the table? MSport1005 feels strongly they should not, but multiple people have added them in. It's worth reaching a consensus on the talk page that can be referenced either way. Cerebral726 (talk) 14:10, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

That's probably to avoid confusion with Red Bull's F1 teams. Mind you, I didn't add the footnote, and feel it could be replaced with a hidden comment. Sponsors are purely trivial – and they're also nothing new. Even in NASCAR, IndyCar or Supercars (where they get utmost importance, and are sometimes listed on official documents along with driver, team and car) we do not include them. Yeah, I did that as a compromise to not add the sponsors directly to the table. Fine if you wanna remove it. However, I think Ferrari Driver Academy should be mentioned as a note next to Aurelia Nobels if possible. D4R1U5 (talk) 15:34, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Given how prominent the title sponsors are on television graphics and commentary, basically being treated as the team name, should we consider adding a 'livery' column or something similar to the driver entry list, to help with identification? Romero13 10:07, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

I don't think so. Wikipedia shouldn't be an indiscriminate collection of information, and the entry list isn't intended as a 'spotter guide'. The official results on the website only mention driver, team and number – these sponsor logos and "SPONSOR by TEAM" on the graphics seem to just be a TV thing to generate interest. Why is the "Supporting team" column included then? It is not included in other series such as F2 for drivers in academies and with cars with a "special" livery.

F2/F3 drivers who run a teams livery are just a member of that teams academy. In F1A all F1 teams are required to support a driver and have their livery on a car. The driver is directly supported by them which is unique to F1A, see for more details. LouisOrr27 (talk) 16:06, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

Alphabetical

Looking at 2024 World Rally Championship and 2024 Formula One World Championship and 2024 NASCAR Cup Series, it seems the tables are ordered first by alphabetical team. I'm happy for the individual drivers to be ordered by number within their teams, but the teams being furthest to the left seem to always be alphabetical. Agree, teams should be listed in alphabetical order, with drivers listed in numerical order in their teams. Also when it comes down to the wildcard drivers, they should be listed in the order of events that they competed in, so Saudi first etc. LouisOrr27 (talk) 15:12, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

There's nothing to "agree" here. Numerical order has literally been the consensus forever. WRC (like DTM) is ordered by manufacturers, not teams – NASCAR (like IndyCar) is an American series and follows different criteria – F1 has its own WP structure and the table is noticeably different. You can check the entirety of non-American feeder series from F2 down to F4 and you'll see they follow numerical order. As do FE, SF, WEC, GTWC, ELMS, TCR, PMSC and all major championships out there. I can "agree" because its my own personal opinion. and that is I think it looks better and makes more sense if the teams are listed alphabetically. Because all championships parallel to F1 Academy (Italian F4, Spanish F4, British F4, French F4, F4 UAE, etc.), all championships over it (F2, F3, FRECA, FRMEC, etc.) and all the professional series I listed above use numerical order. As did the now defunct W Series. This is such a basic common practice that it feels surreal to be discussing it. MSport1005 (talk) 23:14, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

I apologize for changing it over too quickly, definitely should've let discussion continue before implementing any changes. I didn't realize this would be such a contentious move, that was my error. However, you are not able to say with authority what the order has to be for this, and your aggressive "don't waste our time" is out of line and non productive. LouisOrr27 and I believe that the most logical order is alphabetical, there is precedent at other motorsport entry tables, it's a valid opinion. Cerebral726 (talk) 23:15, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

My review of your edit was also admittedly too quick, and seeing those flags on a grey background confused me (it reminded me of people adding flags to the "manufacturer" column in DTM articles). Conflicting Car Numbers

I've noticed some car numbers have been put as the same for multiple drivers - do we have any sources for who's using which number (so that we can clear this up)? A Doctor Who (talk) 12:35, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
