Poor layout
editThis article has the constituencies in a small box which you have to scroll through, and (at least on my screen) some of the details in the table disappear off the right of the screen. All the other nations and regions have all the constitencies displayed and all the information displayed, including on the right of the table. I think that the Wales article should adopt the far superior layout in the articles for other areas. Dudley Miles (talk) 21:31, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Dudley Miles, I made it scrollable because on my screen the large table clips out of the page, in a zone of grey. What is the standard format for large tables? DankJae 21:37, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I am not technically expert but see as an example 2024 United Kingdom general election in Yorkshire and the Humber. This is much better on my screen and I assume on most screens as all other areas use this format. Dudley Miles (talk) 22:17, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Dudley Miles, on my screen it overhangs, so smaller screens will have issues. Would prefer if it only scrolled horizontally, however seems the template doesn't allow that for now. Sticky headers are new, so not many articles have it, but still pretty much in development. I understand how scrolling down is annoying, so willing to tolerate a zone of grey over that. The short-term solution would be to trim the table (and on other articles) to reduce the width of the columns. DankJae 22:41, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. It looks fine now on my screen. Dudley Miles (talk) 22:55, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Well no longer on mine, but a smaller sacrifice. In the end, I use a less common smaller screen. DankJae 23:02, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Reform missing
editThis article covers an election in which Reform got more votes than either Plaid or the Lib Dems. But is not shown in the box on parties and their votes, but Plaid and Lib Dems are. You could possibly defend it by saying they didn't win an MP, but nor did the Tories and they are shown. Comes over as a deliberate censoring of the party that came 3rd, but inclusion of the parties that came 4th and 5th. 2A00:23C6:7688:2E01:D54E:5663:6465:3963 (talk) 17:10, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- Understand the reasoning but there has to be a cut-off somewhere. It is usually parties with MPs before and after the election. In the end, the election was to win seats as the UK doesn't have proportional representation. Adding the fact that this leads to a rounded 4 to be included, means adding reform would leave a gap for an even more arbitrary party (likely Greens) to be added to fill it. The WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE is to be concise. However, open to alternatives as it should be noted how large Reform's vote share in Wales was in the election. DankJae 19:26, 6 July 2024 (UTC)
- To add to this, re the info box, I think there's a case for removing the Conservatives as they returned 0 seats. There's precedence for this in 1997 and 2001 and also 2017(when the LDs didn't win any)/ Kalamikid (talk) 16:21, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- True, logical DankJae 16:27, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- As there were no objections I've actioned this. Kalamikid (talk) 11:45, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Chessrat, has since argued Tories and Reform should be added, until it was reverted based on this discussion. Once again, if Reform and Tories are included I'd argue the Greens should be too (which I added). Or we just don't include Tories or Reform, or Greens. @Kalamikid DankJae 14:18, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- Didn't see this talk page discussion before making my edit. I'm ambivalent about the Greens (they came sixth in popular vote and under 5%, can see the argument either way for them), but I definitely feel like it's misleading to omit the Conservatives and Reform considering they both came ahead of Plaid Cymru and the Lib Dems in popular vote, and considering that the Conservatives lost a lot of seats. - Including three parties (so a total of six) who didn't win any seats in an info box is overkill in my book. The main UK page only has three in the info box and as mentioned further up there's precedence for this in 1997, 2001, 2017 (and 2019) four elections in recent times when only three parties have won seats in Wales. So I argue leave it as three. Reform, Cons and Greens are mentioned in the full results table but their performance doesn't merit inclusion in the info box. Its also worth noting that UKIP finished third in Wales in 2015 and aren't in the info box there. Kalamikid (talk) 14:38, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
