The 2070s is expected to be called the "twenty-seventies".
Will the 2070s really be called the twenty-seventies? Joseandricardo, 17:55, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
I don't see why not.--DB Durham NC 20:49, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
"Huge focus on the centennial of Unix timing system." -- Absolutely false. The 32-bit Unix counter rolling over will lead to the Year 2038 problem, and has absolutely nothing to do with a 100-year anniversary. I just wanted to point this out before changing the article page, especially since I'm not a registered Wikipedia user. (Yet.) -- Gregly
Atomium
What will happen with the copyrights on the Atomium in the 2070s? --84.61.27.68 12:45, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Muslims?
Come on, now. 2076 will not be the year 1500 in the Islamic calendar. 2076 - 622 = NOT 1500 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.160.170.22 (talk • contribs).
- Then please remove the information accompanied by a proper edit summary. The original entry read "Allegedly Bede and some Sufis computed 2076 as the last year." and was accompanied by a web reference; I reformatted the entry and pulled in more information from the web reference. If the web reference is wrong, this information should be pulled. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 12:09, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
PlayStation 9
Will this decade really see the release of the PlayStation 9. 209.247.22.197 17:07, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Playstation 14/9
"In a futuristic commercial for the PlayStation 2, the year in which the "PS14" is released." "The "PlayStation 9" will be released in 2078, according to a futuristic advertisement for the 2000 release of the PlayStation 2."
Surely these can't both be right. I never saw the ad in question, so can't really comment, but I doubt that Sony would make ads showing the PS9 and PS14 being released in the same year from the same marketing campaign. Could someone that saw this ad please correct this. Akata 08:58, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Video games in public domain
Unless I am mistaken, the 90-year copyright protection on many retro video games will end around this time if it is not renewed. 92.237.21.186 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 11:30, 21 October 2008 (UTC).
- I believe the term is 95 years, not 90. 140.147.236.194 (talk) 16:03, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
i agree this does seem to be a real future issue that is going to be coming up. for instance 1978 was when Space invaders was realised for the Atari 2600. 1978 plus 95 is 2073. but alot of these 1978 atari 2600 games did not have much of a back story to try to protect as a licenced copyright for instance to this day in 2011 we still do not know the name of the alien race in space invaders as the game creater will not publize or publish any formal back story. but as this dedade the 2070's comes to a close we find our selfs looking at video games that did have giant back stories as games became increasingly more complex by the end of the 1980's. personly i would not worry about all this copyright protection stuff. from what i gather from science fiction most authors of this time period think that theres going to be alot of warfare amongs competeing nations over remaining resources. it may or may not be a nuclear holocaust but its a certainly that if theres alot of warfare that people would rather not get distracted by petty concerns as copyright protection and be thinking more about survival in a harsh world 3 generations from now. 69.208.14.63 (talk) 21:27, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Ender's game
"The events that set the book Ender's Game into motion take place in 2070." What events are these? The first invasion? Supergeek1694 (talk) 22:36, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
There might be some back story during the 21st century in the Enders Game series but the recent movie that came out nearly 6 years after you posted this was based closser to the 2370s AD. The people in the 2070 would only have the ability to have that orbital military training academy. The people in the 2070s did not invent faster than light travel yet. But the people of the Earth Alliance in Babylon 5 gained this technology as well as the First Earth Empire of the StarFlight series only gained Faster than light travel in the 22nd Century. The humans could not possibly have created all of those ships and the space stations and such spacecraft all by the year 2070 AD its just impossible. I know that a one cubic mile area of a asteroid could be worth a trillion dollars in recoverable minerals , but the thing is were not sure at what point from 1961 to 2070 that doing any practical Mining on a asteroid would become commonplace and routine 99.45.130.77 (talk) 23:30, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Copyright--United States "Old Law" (pre-1978)
As I understand it, on December 31, 2072, under United States Copyright Law, the last copyrights registered under the "Old Law" (i.e. the law in effect before January 1, 1978) will reach the end of their maximum 95 year term, and will expire. 140.147.236.194 (talk) 16:02, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
New Sentence
I was wondering can the sentence The 2070s will begin on January 1, 2070 and will end on December 31, 2079 be at the top of the article so people can know when the 2070s will begin and end69.209.197.42 (talk) 13:54, 22 August 2009 (UTC).
Correct Starting Year
The Gregorian Calendar does not include a year zero, so the decades begin on the 1, not the 0. In other words, the 2070s will begin on January 1, 2071, not 2070. Kdietz (talk) 21:06, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

babylon 5 Scifi for this decade not mentioned
this mentions most science fiction iv heard of for the 2070's decade even star trek. but what about babylon 5? acording to babylon 5 there is atleast a paragraph worth of back story thats missing for this show. babylon 5 back story for 2070's is not being mentioned heres some events that could be put into the science fiction section. for instance world war 3 lasts from 2076- 2084 this artical could atleast mention that 2076 was the year world war 3 begins acording to babylon 5. although i am seeing other mentionings to a nuclear holocaust type of war in this decade by other science fiction acording to to other authors on this article. 69.208.10.149 (talk) 09:22, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
also i forgot to mention a guy named Morobuto is born in 2075 and he lives till 2124 and he is a philosopher and eventually his message of peace is heeded and the warring states of the current organisation for african states(OAS) evolves into new nation in babylon 5 universe called Central African block. and the north african states become part of a islamic block. 69.208.10.149 (talk) 03:51, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
American tricentennial
not sure if i spelt that right but i added there triccentenial date once, but it was removed. any particular reason for it NOT to be included? we know thats the date for it. Joesolo13 (talk) 01:17, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I added it back as well. It is relevant information and one of the largest events in the world, no doubt. We should also see if any other nations celebrate anniversaries. Go USA! Do not delete it as it will get added back. As long as SQL Timestamp are relevant so is the country that has contributed to those timestamps (and that includes any other country that can (and should) be added to this list, as long as a SQL developer is in that country (e.g. not Antarctica, there are no SQL devs there).
- And removed again; per Wikipedia:WikiProject Years, future anniversaries are not listed unless there are present notable plans for observing the anniversary. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 06:42, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Asteroid impact
It's true that that is the most likely specific asteroid impact to occur at any specific time in the future, but it probably wouldn't be a notable event in that year even if it occurs. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 02:57, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
