This article is in good shape, but needs a bit of wikification. A few comments from me:
- is there a reason why the title of this article doesn't include the word "Regiment"? Dyer seems to use the word, and it would be consistent with general military unit naming conventions across en WP.
- None of the other Pennsylvania Civil War regiments used regiment in the title, so I stuck to the 'local consensus'. After this GAN is passed I can spend some time moving the rest and this to include regiment in the title. Kges1901 (talk) 09:57, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- in the lead, "During the last days"
- Corrected. Good catch.
- link Pennsylvania for the non-US reader, in the lead and at first mention in the body
- Done.
- did this regiment change names at any point, or are there alternative names in reliable sources?
- No. Most regiments did not have name changes; you may have gained an incorrect impression from the USCT disputes.
- the presentation of the companies is weird, why start with E? I would have thought start with A, B, etc then when you get to E, include H, I & K, then go on with F and G? Not a war-stopper, just seems a strange presentation.
- Reordered.
- state that Bermuda Hundred is in Virginia
- Done
- is "Provisional Brigade of the Defenses of Bermuda Hundred" a proper unit name?
- That is what Dyer calls it. It was an ad hoc formation.
- state Petersburg is in Virginia
- Done
- link parapet
- Done
- link Trench warfare
- Done
- link Confederate
- Done
- link Picket (military)
- Done
- link James River
- Done
- link redoubt
- Done
- the sentence beginning "During the northern hemisphere..." is a bit long
- Completely rephrased.
- ranks need links
- Done
- where were Fort Howard and Fort Alexander Hayes?
- Hard to say, both are obscure fortifications in the Petersburg siege line. The issue is that the points of reference that I could use, such as the Jerusalem Plank Road, don't have articles either.
- link abatis and cheval de frise
- Done
- something amiss with "The 211th remained there Nottoway Court House"
- Done
- the rest of the references need OCLCs, available from Worldcat
- Done
- the Stedman bombproof image needs a link to bunker for bombproof, and a date of publication for the US-PD tag
- Added.
- File:Petersburg, Va. Confederate fortifications.jpg needs a US PD tag
- Added.
Great job with this, just a few tweaks needed here and there. Placing on hold for the comments to be addressed. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 03:03, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
- Just wondering about what data or original map was used to generate the Petersburg map? Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 00:56, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
- It was drawn by now retired user Hal Jespersen, who attracted some positive attention from Civil War Trust [1]. His maps are used in various Civil War books. I am confident that he based his maps on reliable sources, otherwise errors would have been spotted. Kges1901 (talk) 01:08, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm ok with that for GAN, but I doubt it will be enough for ACR or FAC if this is going there, usually I am asked about the bonafides of user-generated maps at one or both higher assessments. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 01:26, 23 October 2018 (UTC)
